Problem with AVISynth/DVD2AVI

Post by phantom_112 » Mon Oct 28, 2002 2:56 pm

Whenever I go to play my avs file in WMP or Premiere I get a video that says "Unrecognized exception".

I have asked AD about it and he is stumped because no matter what I do I cant seem to get it to work. I'm using the AMVapp and it seems to work with everyone else except me, god damnit!

I'm using AVISynth 2.06 and DVD2AVI 1.76

anyone got any suggestions?

My script looks like this:

MPEG2Source(D:\PerfectBlue.d2v")

I should only have 1 line for it right?

Well, you should only have 1 line if you have the latest AMVapp yes.

I've gone through all the usual fixes:

Different versions of dvd2avi

Different Versions of mpeg2dec

Reripping and recreating project files

Avisynth works fine, it's just the d2v importing tht gives errors with no obvious fix.

I'll keep thinking of ideas though.

Have you tried manually specifying an iDCT if you're still using MPEG2DEC3.dll?

yup :)

I thought it might have been an athlon XP issue.

Adiamante also had an unrecognized error issue with his P4 and dvd2avi 1.76 but changing to 1.8x and using mpeg2dec3 fixed that.

This one has me stumped.

Why does nothing ever work easily for me?

**cries**

But there has to be a way to fix this, without doing anything drastic... like formatting...

OK, we seem to have fixed it.

Anyone getting Unrecognized Exception errors with mpeg2 import scripts that really should work should try this:

1) Uninstall AMVapp and install the latest AMVapp

2) Install DVD2AVI v1.86 (not 1.76)

3) Remake your d2v files with that version

4) use them in your avisynth script as described in the guides.

It is possible that the old 1.76 version of dvd2avi creates a d2v file that when used in combination with mpeg2dec and the latest avisynth creates some sort of error on very new processors such as P4 and AthlonXP. If you have these problems try the above method.

for everyone, who didn't know it:

ERMAC = GOD
ABSOLUTEDESTINY = GOD

sorry for the spamming, but if the P4 and the athlonXP causes the problems probably more people get the "Unrecognized Exception errors"...and so i push the thread back to top... ^^°°

(sorry for my bad english... )

Weird....I have an Athlon XP 2100+ running on windows ME, and DVD2AVI 1.76 and AVISynth have worked fine for me. So maybe its a combination of processor and OS that causes the problem? (Or maybe my processor isn't new enough for yas? :D)
Premiere's crashes have caused my hands to bleed!
Its true. It crashes. I punch monitor. Hand bleeds.
No clue why...

I was having the same problem on my P3 500 mhz, updated the DVD2AVI to the latest (bleeding edge version) and it works great now!
