Trouble finding Premiere Effect

Post by mutantfish01 » Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:59 pm

Hello everyone, I've just got a simple question that I imagine wouldn't be too difficult to answer, because it's not necessarily a problem.

Well, there's this effect I see on AMVs that I imagine can be done in Adobe Premiere. When I generally see it, it's right at a beat point and the clip will "echo out", not like ghosting, but with a transparent duplicate of the current frame overlaying the original clip as it grows and fades out, as if the video is further emphasizing that given point in the video.

I imagine one could always take that image, import it into a higher video layer, make it more transparent and enlarge it via keyframe, but it looks like it's an effect that Premiere could generate as well.

If anyone knows, I'd be grateful to find out. Thank you^^

I think I know which effect you mean, and it's not a default effect in Premiere. It's best to do it the way you mentioned, duplicate the clip on top, keyframe it to zoom out and fade out at the end. Most of Premiere's default effects are really cheesy, so I would recommend just making your own when you can.

Ah, I see. Aside from filters, Premiere really doesn't have amazing effects, you're right. It's a lot more work, but at least I understand how to do that. Thanks

If there's an easier way to do it in Premiere, then I've been needlessly wasting effort for years. :P

(I remember the first time I saw that effect; it was in MeriC's "Deceptive Passions" at Otakon 2003, and I liked it so much I started using it myself.)
