Music choices

Post by sunwukong86 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 2:46 pm

Ive noticed there's a lot of music genres and artists people just dont use for AMVs. For example, most music before the 90''s just isnt used at all. Im a big fan of 60's and 70's rock and I rarely see it on here.

If i were to use a "retro" song for an AMV is there something I should watch out for? Or is it just personal preference why the earlier stuff isnt used?

Mostly because early rock doesn't really mix with anime, unless done right, and you get a good combination. I love classic rock, but due to it normally being kinda low quality, and just generally doesn't really look right with an amv, I don't use it.

People tend to edit to what they listen to. Not a whole lot of classic rock lovers out there. The ones that do appreciate it realize that their audience most likely won't, though.

a lot of older songs tend to be more story-like which is why they are "harder" to make videos to.. same goes for country and rap.

plus what Bashar said

I plan on using The Beatles' Yesterday for a Grave of the Fireflies AMV sometime in the future.

Bleck. Being from the south, most country songs I would love to edit to have been raped by the new country songs out right now, which is a disgrace to our past country stars. X_X (Stupid Hicktown song. Stupid Hillbillies Love it in the Hay song... Thank God for Faith Hill.)

As for what to look out for:

All the usual things, really. As long as an AMV is editied well, any song can shine brightly, IMO.
