Anime Detour April 4-6

While I probably won't be doing an AMV this year (Trying to buy my/our first house and all my free time going to my wife, 2 small kids and XBox 360), I will again be heading off on the Detour.

I personally haven't missed one yet and look forward to seeing people there! I am also excited to see JudgeHolden's new work too. The WTF and AMV contests are generally awesome.

Remember people, Jo want's some comedy AMVs for the contest this time! (Meaning don't send all of them into the WTF contest this time

)

Well I'm going to register in the next few days. Still deciding between normal and sponsoring. Why the heck do they not know what guests are coming yet? If I'm going to go with sponsorship I'll want to get a hotel room next door or nearby for sure (since the Ramada is full). So is anyone interested in sharing a room, the more the merrier!?

Well I'm going to register in the next few days.

Not to rush you (or anyone else that hasn't pre-registered for that matter), but there's less than <strike>600</strike> 400 spots left before AD reaches its 3000 quota. Chances are that there will be no at-the-door registration this year.

Why the heck do they not know what guests are coming yet?

According to the Head of Guest Relations:

guests are notorious for not announcing they are going to a convention until the very last minute.

Check the website for updates on guests, registration, etc.

I personally registered back in December.

unfortunately the Ramada was full in October!

I did manage to get a room at the Marriot though.

Also I am looking for editors that would like to participate in my panel. I haven't heard back from Judge Holden yet but I would love to more editors join.

The Panel is called Editors Choice. Essentially you pick two or three AMV's that you like and then explain why you like the AMV.

Anybody interested?

I'll be interested in going, that's for sure. I wouldn't really qualify to help you out considering I haven't completed a video in like 2 years. I have like 4 or 5 half done.

I think you told me that last year as well. Of course I have only completed one video since last years con and another that I started that will never see the light of day.

As far as the panel, I have one editor on board already. I would love to have more. PM me if you are interested.

Exactly. At least I am consistent. You never know, I might panic and just throw together something for the WTF contest. Wife, 2 kids under 4, work, looking for our first home and the XBox 360 (Rock Band, Call of Duty 4 and Assasins Creed FTW) take up all my time. I'm actually falling behind in my Anime watching too. The only 2 TV shows I make time for are House and Lost.

Again though, I have been tossing around something in my head for a little bit for the WTF conests. It's only be like 1:30. Meh.

Anyway, the con should be great!

I'm just slow and lazy. Ya, I'll do the panel. Also I did sponsor. As for a room, I'm still debating on commuting or staying ....

As for guests, yes that is getting annoying. I really want Carrie there because she runs the Charity auction and that is the main reason I go now.

Well I registered, no sponsorship because I don't know who the guests are. As far as staying at a hotel nearby, I'm also still debating; the Marriott next door is still available, but at like $115 per night

. So splitting costs with someone(s) or somewhere cheaper would be ideal.

Living off the 74 bus line FTW. 74 to 46th street station, lightrail to MoA FTW.

Unlimited use bus pass from work? Priceless (well, it's actually 45 bucks

)
