Vegas 8.0 Problem - Slowing Down & Speeding Up

Post by DaRealChrono » Tue May 06, 2008 9:48 pm

Ok so I'm working on my amv, and I intended to slow down a couple of clips and speed up some, which was no problem. I did it by holding CTRL (I believe) and dragging it to the left or right depending. Ok so...

When I go to render it, the clips show up black that I slowed down and sped up, but everything else is fine...What am I doing wrong here? My clips are encoded with Xvid, and I know it's not best to do that, but it isn't a problem unless I'm slowing or speeding up. The slowed/sped up clips preview fine, they just won't render right...

Can someone please help?

1 stop using xvid, and

2 find a different way to change clip speed? try the "envelope" band (right click on the clip choose envelope then velocity) or change the playback properties (right click go to properties and change the playback speed) if neither of those work, then find a different way to time the video.

It didn't have anything to do with Xvid...I found out how to fix it. All you have to do is disable the resampling by going to right-clicking, going to properties on the clip that was slowed/sped up.

Xvid will cause you a world of problems regardless. If you need to save space, use the avs file, or better yet, just cut clips.

xvid will still eventually give you a load of troubles... lossless files won't give you as many problems which is why it's recommended to use them in Vegas...

you can attempt to bait and switch avs files in vegas but its a load of work and can cause issues...

you know theres a reason people post this link everywhere:

Lol, think I'm already getting some...having a tough time getting this video exported in decent settings...only thing working is DV-AVI but then I can't compress back into DivX in VirtualDubMod...might just be me though...I'm n00bish to these codec things, considering I've been using WMM2 for like my whole AMV career, lol...

Is there a program other than AutoGK that can change DVD files into .avi under a different codec? AutoGK is the only thing I know of....sorry if it's been said before, but could you just point me in the direction?

There's no problem with cutting clips, I use AviChop to make the clips bearable to work with...

I could have a problem with space though...

There isn't just a program like AutoGK (which encodes .VOB files into .avi xvid/divx files at the size you want) that I can use to convert, say MPEG-2 for example? I don't mind going through all of the AviSynth/VDM stuff, but is there an easier way?
