This year's contest was characterized by a very noticable increase in the level of skill displayed by creators, which made the playlist finalization process a very, very difficult choice, as there many, *many* entries that I really wanted to show, but was not able to.

The decision on which entries to show was made with reference to the following factors:

1) The score of the video. This was the primary factor.

2) The number of videos you submitted. With only one exception, we decided to show only 1 video per creator, in order to showcase as many creators as possible. There were 7 creators, where both videos submitted scored highly enough to be shown, however, only 1 video will be played during the AMV contest, due to time constraints. The other video will be shown as part of our Cosplay half-time show. The reason for the 1 exception was because it would be a crying shame NOT to show both entries.

3) Whether you were attending Otafest. Because Otafest is a smaller convention based in Calgary attended mostly be locals (around 3000 people almost exclusively from Alberta), we wanted to have a balance of locally created videos in order to encourage local talent, and to let creators actually see their work on the big screen. Therefore, as roughly 30% of contest entrants were local creators, 30% of the entries showing are from local creators as well. These videos took the place of the 7 'double' videos as mentioned above, who will be shown during Cosplay Half-Time Show instead.

Thank you very much for making this year's contest by far the *best* contest we've ever had! The show will happen on Sunday, May 18th at 12:30pm - 2:30pm in our main events room - ST140! Winner will be announced during this time! Winner of the Fan Favourite Award based on audience vote will be announced at our Awards Ceremony on Sunday, May 18th at 6pm in the main events room! Finally, on Monday, May 19th, I will also announce via email, on the Otafest Forums, and the a-m-v.org forums, the Otafest 2008 AMV Contest Winners!
