The only consistency I've found in AMV contests is that whatever video of mine makes the finals at FanimeCon doesn't make it into AX, and vice versa. I submitted "Fix You" to Fanime this year, and "Soarin"" made it in instead (which, of course, didn't make it in at AX).

If past cons are any indication, the AMV contest will likely be on Thursday night, the first night. But don't quote me on that. Just putting forth my personal experience...

See you all there!
 Wow, Brad is still alive!!! Cool...

Indeed I am, Vlad. Didn't you get the memo? I didn't go to Carousel. I'm a runner.

Best of luck to to everyone, but especially everyone else in the Comedy category (you're going to need it!).
It would seem I spoke too soon. Despite my championing of this video at Fanime, it fell before VampireAnneke's "Too Loud", the only video to win BOTH the judges' AND the audience vote in its category (I would suspect that it not being in the AX finals is because she didn't submit it - still pretty dang funny, though - Stan Freberg is GOD!).

I also happen to find myself in the unenviable position of not standing a chance, as Fanime's audience winner for action is running against my Drama entry at AX. But now, it's up against "Fix You"...

Again, you never can predict how things will go. It certainly makes it all fun...

If it helps any Brad, every one of the judges recognized the music from Soarin in the first few bars. Of course they were all OC natives. :)

OH and fyi, we only had 3 videos with Death Note in them.(yeah I was shocked too)

Well didn't make it in; dissapointed but oh well. There's always AWA.

Congrats to those who made it in though, I look forward to seeing your entries.

BTW Brad: you coming to the AMV dinner this year? Rider is running it and will be doing it in Little Tokyo.

There may be a chance some videos that didn't get in, along with some past entrants may be shown during the seating/pre-show.

How awesome would it be to see the internet is for porn at the Nokia Theatre? :P

Actually I submitted 'Too Loud!' last year to AX's amv contest (but not Fanime). Per the AMV director last year, my video was extremely funny, but they decided it was a 'parody' and not a 'comedy' so didn't show it. The new AX amv management requested that I resubmit the video this year, but I declined.

I'm excited that my 'Amnesia' video will be shown. Guess I need to go to the contest this year.
