exporting AVI using Adobe premier elements 3.0

Sorry if this has been asked already, if so please point me in the right direction.

Are there any ways to export to AVI files using Adobe Prem. Elem. 3.0? With 2.0 there was a supplement but I haven't found one for 3.0 yet.

Anyone found if there is a way to possible do it?

There are two ways to export it:

- First, I recommend exporting using File -> Export -> MPEG. I ask you to do it this way because there's no hassles with MPEG export -- just click on DVD NTSC (or DVD PAL if you are in a PAL region country) and export. All versions before 4.0 apparently need to do this, as you will see below the only other reliable export method from Premiere Elements 3.

- Second, you can use File -> Export -> Movie... and then push the Settings button. In the settings area:

* For General, select "Microsoft AVI" as your format.

* For Video, the only AVI format that will work with 3.0 reliably is Lagarith Lossless Codec -- but you have to install the updated version first. Click here to get the new version of Lagarith Lossless Codec. Make sure you uninstall your Lossless Codecs first, then install the update.

* For Audio, leave it Uncompressed for your output. None of the other options in APE 3.0 seem to work right, and I will tell you later how to change it.

Other than these two methods, nothing else really works properly. (Well, Uncompressed Video does with some post-processing work, but Lagarith gives you lossless quality at 1/5th the size.)

After you export either the MPEG2 or Lagarith AVI, you aren't done yet. Next, you have to use VirtualModDub to turn these into XviD AVIs for distribution. VDubMod is also where you can compress your AMV's audio. You can read the guides on how to load sources and save them to XviD in VDub.

Again, after having owned every version of Premiere Elements, I can tell you that the above is the only way you will be able to export your videos from Elements 3. The alternative is to upgrade to Premiere Elements 4, which finally does support multiformat AVI export.
