The vid I'm currently working on was a bit of an eye opener. It's basically an attempt at following through from an earlier video, but indeed I see some things that have changed in me since the first vid. It was disconcertingly hard to ignore that voice to sync constantly even when I wasn't actually working on a sync-based video. Same with masking; the concept was supposed to be clever editing rather than technical cheating, and yet there's just something stuck in my brain that wanted me to crank open Photoshop for every frame.

I often watch my old AMVs. For the most part, I believe I've created videos when I felt the drive to make them to be strong enough. If it were just purely for the sake of releasing a video, then I don't bother, consequently whether it be for conceited reasons or personal satisfaction, my videos are brought into this world with enough reason for me to love them all.

That said, I think from day 1, I've created my videos with the thought of having an audience watch them. I get satisfaction from people's reactions, though that's not the biggest source of contentment for me. I'm a capitalist literature enthusiast even from back in high school and I've learnt since then it's become ingrained in me to think "what would an audience like".

Eh.. old/new all the same for me. My concept of mood sync hasn't changed and I still use the same techniques I used from the beginning. I don't use effects cause I'm lazy, I only change colors to match the mood and sometimes I want to use a scene so bad that doesn't match the beats but match the mood so I add some flashes.

Nothings really changed except I try harder sometimes and visual quality is a lot higher than it was.

I wish I was like a lot of you here and be able to edit for days. I think I've never spent more than 24 hours on a video and my average time spent making them is 4 hours each. How the hell do you guys do it?

My video game breaks are already excessive. I think I should actually cut back. :P

Interesting discussion, and I remember a topic a long time ago here talking about losing our innocence as editors. Not feeling that magic that was their when we first started to edit. This topic reminds me of that.

Well I have two sets of old videos.....the ones that have a sense of timing, and the ones edited in a crappy program that you could not time in. I kept both sets. I will watch them about twice a year, and they remind me why I edit. As bad as the ones done in the program you couldn't time in are, they have a specialness about them to me.

For me, it's those times that I edit what I want, and have fun, rather then "what I 'think' I should edit" that turns out a nice piece of work.

Troy I think everyone knows by now that you actually have a robot making videos for you... you don't have to lie to kick it.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
