Well, in Episode 9 time to say your goodbyes for some of your favorite characters because

it's now time for high school graduation for all the seniors except for Nagisa who unfortunately got sick at such a worst time. She now has to repeat her grade again in which Tomoya had a hard time to accept. Nagisa once reassures him that he needs to keep moving forward as she is doing as well. Their love for each other has also been assured; they're seriously one the best heterosexual couples ever developed!

Interesting to note, Nagisa's birthday is on Christmas Eve (which means no double presents! ). I wonder if that has any significance.

And now for all you naysayers out there (which I can't blame ya'), according to the game players, the real meat of After Story will begin next episode as now

we're dealing with Tomoya making his first steps towards the real world! And there's Nagisa being the only one in the drama club.

Episode 9 seems to be taking a step forward for the plot in After Story.

Although the fact that Nagisa has a big fever again (and Tomoya's reaction) makes me wonder if this season will tie into the Clannad movie. Which, if it will, will have me getting the tissue boxes ready by my computer monitor near the ending episodes.

I haven't finished the Clannad game yet so this could be wrong because this information is second hand. In the Game, Nagisa gives birth to Ushio but dies later. There is an alternate ending to the game, if you get all the orbs of light, a miracle will happen and Nagisa will survive and everyone lives together and it's a much happier ending. Since the ending where Nagisa dies was already in the movie, I hope to use the alternate ending, I don't think I'd be able to handle Nagisa dying again.

I just hope they use the happy ending...

I played the game Narcissu and it hurt to play, such a sad story... And the ending to A Dream of Summer was also quite torturous.

And I have to say, it is very rare for a bishoujo visual novel to actually deal with plots after high school graduation especially with romantic elements incorporated in it.

Spoiler :

This episode mostly dealt with Tomoya now facing what is like in the work force. He also has plans for himself and Nagisa to live off on their own. And not to mention Nagisa's school life without most of her friends around.

The mood and atmosphere is definitely different from past school-based episodes. We are now entering some interesting directions in this series!
