Collateral - Black Lagoon AMV
Finally, FINALLY, got this done with! I started this video over a year ago (shortly after my Witchblade AMV, so this is actually only my second AMV), but had to put it on hold due to various technical issues. At long last, I was able to get back to working on it a few weeks ago, and finish it off.
With this one, I decided to try my hand at an all out action video, featuring the famous song from the movie "Collateral" (hence the title). Not a very original concept, but I still had a blast doing it, despite the problems I mentionned earlier.
Enjoy!

Re: Collateral - Black Lagoon AMV
I'm still a novice to AMV-editing and will get my best opinion...
It has a decent flow with the music and action, slower scenes when the music tempo slows down. Too bad you could get some scenes with some lip-sync though, there was like a half attempt earlier on but it was either off or unintentional...
3/5 nice job

Thanks for the comments.
Actually there are two places where I tried lip-synching, although they were very brief (only one word even ). I spent a fair amount of time to get them to synch up right and thought I had succeeded. Guess not

I thought this was a pretty solid action AMV with great flow and scene selection. The sync could have been a little tighter, but that's the problem with action, the sync can never be tight enough !
My only real complaint was the encode. 31MB for a 4:30 video is just not enough, especially using WMV.

I agree, sync could of been tighter. I didn't really do enough to keep my attention, tbh. Good try though. 3/5

That was incredibly badass. Wasn't expecting much, since it's only your second video, it's encoded with WMV, and you haven't received any opinions since you've been on this site, but I thoroughly enjoyed that from beginning to end. Nice flow and REALLY GOOD use of internal sync. Only problem was that it did get a little repetitive at times, since you used the same kinds of scenes through the whole video.
Regardless, I'm impressed.
4.5/5

[22:45] <Niotex> mehh video is somewhat decent but you can clearly tell that the guy/kid/what ever doesn't have enough experiance to keep up with his own video as it progresses
[22:46] <Niotex> Balance between first and second season is totaly screwed up aswell =\ I mean honestly you cant cram the second season in the last min in a half while the video is 4:30
[22:46] <Warheart> I miss cuts ...
[22:46] <Niotex> Thats what I ment with he cant keep up
[22:47] <Warheart> But the flow is definitely there
[22:47] <Arashinome> Still, I think he made some great cuts and shows some promise
[22:47] <Niotex> Clearly going for more internal sync but only works at certain sections
[22:47] <Warheart> yep
[22:48] <Warheart> Actual alteration of the sources is missing ... he could've put an emphasize on some things here and there ...
[22:48] <Niotex> Better then my second video
[22:48] <Warheart> and he misses alot of stuff
[22:50] <Niotex> I'd say a solid 6/10
[22:50] <Warheart> yeah, somehow it's not bad ...
[22:50] <Warheart> he should reopen the file and add things here and there.
[22:51] <Warheart> Because I like the combo ...

Thanks for all the comments!
About the encoding: I understand what you guys mean. I'm not happy with the WMV format either, but it had the settings that seemed easiest for me to understand. Unfortunately, I'm still new to working with video in general so, encoding is one part that I still don't completely get. I'll take the time to learn/play around with the options and post a different, more acceptable format over the week-end.
And thanks for those comments Warheart. Though it never really occured to me to get any sort of balance between the two seasons. I just took the series as a whole and picked whatever scenes I thought would fit best :/
Also, what did you mean by alteration of the sources? Did you mean mixing up the scenes (like I've seen many people do), rather than putting them in order?
Thanks again for all the comments, both positive and negative! I might just reopen the file as suggested and retool it a bit, but after working on this thing on and off for a year, I think I'd prefer moving on to something else and keep all these comments in mind for the next one.

I was sort of expecting that. I realised when I picked the music that it was a bit repetitive, and I was afraid I'd run out of ideas and the amv itself would end up being repetitive as well.CrackTheSky wrote:Only problem was that it did get a little repetitive at times, since you used the same kinds of scenes through the whole video.
Hopefully the next one won't take me a yearArashinomeAMV wrote:I'll be keeping my eye on your future releases ^_^

Warheart and Niotex are both not from America, so you can just ignore everything they say, think, and do.
