Re: FMP! Live Action
Ok filming Pearl Harbour was I thought as bad as it could get.
I was even able to stomache the idea of Americans saving Britain in the Battle of Britain (because Hollywood has never had any knowledge of history before).
But Full Metal Panic is a hit below the belt.
I Object damn it!!
Oh you knooooooow they will bugger it up.
Hey I only watched Live Action Sailormoon to have an insider laugh eh, but at least it wasn't made in the US (god alone knows how horrible it would have been).
I don't care how much money and CGI Hollywood has to work with.

Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

I think they mixed up their shows.
I love to wear absurd and totally impractical garments. What's more, I derive great pleasure from spending time with women for no apparent reason.

Re: FMP! Live Action
Maybe Zac will be playing Kurz Weber. Or at least I can hope.
I wonder if the original author has any say over casting. Of if there is enough furor over this that an organization like the NAACP would make a stink over the casting of originally Asian characters with Caucasian actors and thusly changing the character's race. I suspect that Sousuke will be renamed Steve, Kaname will be renamed Karen, the mecha and high tech elements written out altogether replaced by magic, and the film will take place at a high school in California.
This could end up as another Dragon Ball Evolution...

Sadly, I understand where you are coming from. But J.K. Rowling insisted that the Harry Potter cast be primarily British and it happened. So I can hope. But realistically, unless it's a martial arts movie, Hollywood does not put Asians in lead roles. The Origonal Head Hunter wrote:BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAWillen wrote:I wonder if the original author has any say over casting.

J.K. Rowling is also the biggest selling author since the Bible.Willen wrote: J.K. Rowling insisted that the Harry Potter cast be primarily British and it happened.

Re: FMP! Live Action
You know, after I had calmed down a bit, I was thinking that Zac wouldn't make TOO bad of a Kurz. Sousuke, HELLZ NO! And that's not even factoring in the whole "ZOMG! He's not Asian!" argument. It's just that Sousuke has a rigid, dry personality, and it just seems perfectly natural on him. He needs to be played by someone who can also pull off naturally serious and uptight. I can't see Zac being able to pull that off without it seeming like obvious acting. I personally think he would be much more suited to Kurz.Willen wrote:Maybe Zac will be playing Kurz Weber. Of course, I see this being a trainwreck in the making anyway, so what does it matter what I think? -_-

I think Tommy Lee Jones might be a bit old for this. That said, I don't think there are any young American actors today that can do a serious and uptight roll without turning out:wurpess wrote:It's just that Sousuke has a rigid, dry personality, and it just seems perfectly natural on him. You know what
I seem to remember people freaking out about a live action Evangelion movie that was supposed to be released a while back. That never got off the ground.
I would say, don't worry too much till actual filming starts

I'm not so worried about Eva though, since ADV [presumably] still holds the rights. Though, that movie's future may look very bleak indeed if ADV folds.
