My forum uses Chatango and it helps eliminate alot of spam.

Plus not everyone (me) uses IRC. Or doesn't know how (me).

I agree with the others, IRC is a great way for communication and is a lot more simple than some stupid site bandwith wasting chatbox that will get filled with idiotic useless comments.
