Eureka 7: Up Where They Belong

Post by WesW » Thu Nov 26, 2009 1:42 pm

I have discovered that a mistake was made with the encoding of the vid, which resulted in it containing blended frames. I'll try and post a new, clean version sometime soon. I'll also try and work on a couple of issues which were brought up in the thread.

This amv is ok. I personally feel that the song drags on a bit, but overall, the AMV does a nice job at showing Renton's and Eureka's relationship.

I watched the beta of this so long ago that I can't specifically speak to how different it is, but I *think* you've once again done a pretty good job of pulling things together because it feels like a different, better video than before. I still see a bunch of issues with the video quality and feel the ending needs to be a lot tighter, but you zeroed in on what you were trying to do and that was big step in the right direction. I recall some of your earlier videos as trying to hit too many notes at once, so I'd say the tighter focus in this AMV definitely reflects that you're growing as an editor.

Hm... well I like the song choice. You can't really go wrong with classics. :D I think I may have spotted a few clip speed-ups in the first minute or so to enable some sync for the AMV, but personally, I wasn't a fan of it. There were times when it looked a little odd because the clip played at a normal pace, but suddenly went faster for a second or two. I liked how Holland and Talho's relationship was involved, so I wish there were more Holland x Talho moments in this. Either that, or less Renton x Eureka moments: I'd prefer if it was more balanced like that.
Otherwise, not bad at all. =3

Well, glad you liked the song choice anyway. I think I know why some of the early clips seemed sped up. I took those from the series opener, and I seem to remember that the entire opener ran by at an accelerated pace, in order to get as many scenes in as possible. I actually made the vid back in February, so my memory's not perfect, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't speed anything up. I seem to remember a couple of clips where I had to slow things down for sync purposes. Maybe that's why things struck you as a little jerky. Things seem fine to me, though, as far as matching the scene movement to the music.
