Surprised you even commented Zenkia. Glad you liked itZenkia wrote:I think some of the effects were cheesy but overall I actually liked it. goodjob.
My editing style is boring to some. Some people like my editing style and others don't. What would you recommend I do to make a better "Metal" video. Would you recommend increasing the brightness and contrast to insane values and then bringing them back down to extremely low values every 2 to 3 seconds? To the casual viewer, its seems more intense and thus be appropriate for a "Metal" video. To a viewer whose been around the block or 2, this would look horrible and look like a poor attempt to make the video match the "Metal" music. No creativity whatsoever. Its been seen too many times. Its old. Its garbage Or maybe make the whole video black and white, add a few grudge elements (overlay them on top of the footage), and a some scary/horror footage, label it as experimental, and finally add "Metal" music. That would work I suppose. I still wonder why people label those types of videos "experimental". Could it be the fear of someone calling it a rather pointless and horrible video. What makes a "Metal" video exciting? Give me some ideas. I want a response from only BaQuM. No one else.BaQuM wrote:This is so extremely boring for a metal video.

Re: Redemption
You need to work on the scene selection or just try to bring out the impact of the song using the footage. The singer is so passionate and the songs are so powerful yet this anime just seems emotionless and so boring. You tried way to hard to incorporate all these cool effects while also keeping a clear story going but in the end you need to ask yourself, did you take advantage of what the song is presenting?...and not just the lyrics and the drum beats

Edit number 3 :
Actually, if you want a pretentious constructive elitism then ok.
The video, for a visual recreation of the atmosphere of the song, fails completely. The video was completely disconnected from the audio which made it really boring to watch, I did not feel the intensity, the power and the emotion of the song. All I saw was 'Ieditfortwomonths'-level editing which was not interesting on any level with completely unnecesarry effects which I see in a lot of AMV's these days. No, they did not add to the atmosphere and they were not impressing. All of that would be forgivable if the AMV would have a good concept, but it didn't have one. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The editing also felt very inconsistent with you changing ways of synch while the song remains the same and scenes that went from fast camera movement to scenes where there's almost no movement whatsoever. Also picking an anime that doesn't consist of 24 minutes of tongue wobbling per episode would help. Now, did that make you feel better? No, I don't think so. Will that make you make anything better any day soon? Nope, still don't think so.
Also, I don't see why being a dick was necessarry. By boring I meant that it lacked the atmosphere, the concept and interesting editing to keep my interest. Why fuck, I only watched it till the end now before writing this. And bringing my video up was completely irrelevant. It's called experimental because I tried editing something that I have never edited before, and overall it's not exactly the kind of video you see on the .org every day. The song has more common with drone and noise than metal by the way, just saying.
All that being said, this was not the worst video ever and wasn't completely unenjoayble, you might make something good one day if you stop making Rrezz tribute videos.

I really liked the editing style, had some weaker parts but overall i like, specially, the way you incorporate the effects: most of the "kindda subtle effects" spice the video without making it look unclean at all. I agree with ShatteredFlame about all the rest

Re: Redemption
I do love a good metal AMV, and this video is very good. I was put off by the effects at first, some were a bit too much for my taste, but you blended them nicely with the music and made them work, so I was able to enjoy the video.

Definitely, something to think about. Thanks for the helpful input.ShatteredFlame wrote:You need to work on the scene selection or just try to bring out the impact of the song using the footage. How can I trust someone who contradicts himself?
If I didn't try to change the synch every now and then, it would truly be boring. No one wants to see a 4min video with the same synch over and over again. Its too predictable. Its better to try to synch in different ways, using various methods. You know, be creative.BaQuM wrote: The editing also felt very inconsistent with you changing ways of synch while the song remains the same and scenes that went from fast camera movement to scenes where there's almost no movement whatsoever.
I never mentioned or (brought up) your video or any video of yours. If the ideas I posted on previous posts somehow relate to your videos. Its pure coincidence. and Rrezz is a good editor but I dont see myself making a tribute to him anytime soon. LOLBaQuM wrote: Also, I don't see why being a dick was necessarry. No more edits from you.
I actually had a few more subtle effects that I was going to use but didn't because of rendering issues. Sony vegas 64bit is glitchy. Anyways glad you enjoyed it overall.Sephirothishere wrote:I really liked the editing style, had some weaker parts but overall i like, specially, the way you incorporate the effects: most of the "kindda subtle effects" spice the video without making it look unclean at all.
