You may not all support socialized health care, but if you have a accident at work and get seriously hurt it would suck if you couldn't go to the hospital just cuz you couldn't afford it. I know nobody wants to pay more taxes and ya it's probably gonna put you in debt more but when you think about peoples lives resting on this bill it's no comparison as far as i'm concerned. You just can't compare money and human lives.

I feel that way watching any news network. And yes, there was a need to change our health care system, I just don't feel a hastily thrown together plan was the way to go. But what do I know, I'm just a fear mongering slanderer. I've already stated my views on this same thread, besides, I knew this website leans to the left when I stated the above ^__^ cheers!

Re: Patriotism! ... and health care ...?
This sums up my thoughts pretty well. [A little spill somebody I really respect as a person posted online.]
I think this is becoming a bit too much. The media [on both sides] is becoming nothing more than witch hunts and trying to basically topple control of the government back into their favor, with the country split in half.
I saw online somewhere [youtube IIRC] where members of the tea party movement [being coerced by a senator] was talking about the Velvet Revolution, and wanting to create a similar one and take over their government. Granted, it was an EXTREME example, but this is an extreme situation.
Health Care was just the finishing blow that was our country's heated debate that started back in 08' with Obama's election. The Republicans AND Democrats both became a frenzied crazy maniac party. Albeit, when power changes hands like that, it's going to be a little turbulent, but MY GOD It's been 2 years now. You'd think they get over it by now. >_<
I dunno. I just honestly think it's getting out of hand. And while I'm not going to be like all the idiots parading around going "IMA MOVIN TO MEXICO!", I'm definitely losing a lot of respect and love I've always had with this country.
Some would call the debate going in the US ‘heated’ or ‘impassioned’. I call it dangerous.
You can argue a point with someone without hating them. You can disagree with everything they say without throwing a brick through their window.
Can’t you?
Look at someone like Glenn Beck, who is so full of spite and anger, and incites his viewers into a frenzy. On paper, the Tea Party Movement is a peaceful group who opposes government spending. In reality, many Tea Party Movement members are extremists filled with hate who are on their way to becoming vigilantes, attacking anyone on an opposing side. You also have Al Sharpton, who will use any tragedy to his own advantage.
I’ve listened to senators, congressmen and governors say things I wouldn’t utter in while in a drunken stupor in a bar.
It should be noted that I place the blame on both sides of this latest row.
The worst part of all of this, is that the majority of what people are slinging is not based on facts, but instead on assumptions, hearsay and whatever hate-speak is being published/produced as ‘news’.
This needs to be stopped before it gets worse. A country should be led by debate, facts and bi-partisanship.
Not a mob carrying signs and pitchforks.

mm, the problem isn't that congressmen aren't doing what they are supposed to do, the problem is that they are the voice of "the people" and "the people" are stupid.

The scary part in all of this is that groups like the KKK and the neo-nazis are jumping on board and are becoming more legitimized because hate is becoming a normal thing.

That's some scary stuff... you do realize you are "the people" right? I love America, I accept it with all it's good and bad. And I'm grateful I have the right to complain about the things I hate and hopefully, our way of life isn't altered. I certainly do hope you aren't inferring that America should be a dictatorship.downwithpants wrote:mm, the problem isn't that congressmen aren't doing what they are supposed to do, the problem is that they are the voice of "the people" and "the people" are stupid.
