No video playback at all in any editor
Ok, clearly I did something wrong but I have no idea what.
None of my video editing software is playing back video. Audio works fine but Video is just plum not working, it won't even let me put anything in the video track. Not in WMM, not in Vegas Video 8.0, not even in Premiere Pro CS5, the first time using it.
I've tried converting MKVs to AVIs but receive the same problem, no video playback. Even partially worked on videos that were fine a few days ago refuse to play back video.
I'm using Windows Vista, 32bit and I downloaded CCCP and re-installed it thinking maybe some drivers needed to be updated but nothing changed.

I'm assuming the PC has been rebooted (not mentioned).
Maybe check if there is a 'System Restore' checkpoint from when it was working?

Yes, I have rebooted.
If I do a system restore won't I lose some things on my computer though?

Should not lose any saved files like videos. System files/settings get restored. Documents should not be affected.

Spiffy, I'll try it later on today. Thank you, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Re: No video playback at all in any editor
A friend actually converted it for me, so I'll have to ask him.
For what it's worth, if it matters, I got the episodes off of torrents. I tried to find AVIs but none worked. I tried to convert MKVs to AVIs and those also didn't work.
Oddly, the only things that do work are trial softwares that if you don't buy puts an ugly watermark across your video.

well that doesn't help.
http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
