It is best explained in this quote from the great Fluxy when describing my editing style.

"if he says pretty rose in the song, there better be a god damned rose on the f*cking screen"

I like that last thought but what about the interpretations of the lyrics specially when you don't have the proper scene or it's impossible to correctly match? saying for example: 'My love is burning like gas'

As I said interpretation of lyrics is sometimes better than literal sync O:

The majority of my amvs are usually japanese or instrumental video game songs, so I never had much lyric sync to go off of. I always edited based on mood and feel of the song.

I always felt that lyric sync was a bit on the limited side of things since it can be difficult to find a certain clip to a certain verse of a song and like Yue said, it makes videos painfully predicatable.

I think I might need more lyric sync or kinetic typography since I think too deeply about the words and meanings and everything I do/want to do is mostly unintelligible

At my case that's what I do in the case I edit with a Japanese song, but always take a look to the lyrics just to see that the song matches with what I want to do.
In the case of the Spanish songs, I follow the literal synch since I actually understand everything about the song itself, and in the English one, tend to follow the lyrics, without losing flow or plot of the amv.

I was recently reading some feedback from Japanese people, since they tend to love , that they like the fact that the last part of the video is the epic one since it follows all the lyrics there, that in the middle I stop following them, and the beginning wasn't too much related with them. Seemed they love the part that is lyric synched but felt out of place the first one, and I'm not surprised since the first part is an english song, then move to japanese.

@Yue: Yeah I was like:
It's the case of severals songs I found: I like the beats but when I search the lyrics, I suddenly find the song creepy and my interest to edit it vanish :?

I've made DBZ videos to Japanese love songs. :shark:

Of course, I didn't find this out till after the videos were completed. It's hilarious to see Goku punching Freeza in the face when the lyrics translate to "I love you, baby". :awesome:
