Re: Magnum Opus
btw I noticed Akira Castle in the Sky was also done this year
I'm actually honored that somebody would find the combination so intriguing.

Re: Magnum Opus
I'd like to think I haven't made it yet but I think the one I have planned to release at the end of the year, probably for akross, might be it. All depends if I can finish it or have the technical ability for it.

Re: Magnum Opus
My magnum opus?
Because it's pure me - it's sentimental, simple, romantic, experimental, mellow - and good.

Man, your Mahou Shoujo Requiem is already beyond awesome. If you can do something better my head will implode ><Shin-AMV wrote:I'd like to think I haven't made it yet but I think the one I have planned to release at the end of the year, probably for akross, might be it. Re: Magnum Opus
Gah I've been thinking of that phrase a lot recently. Is there a term for something you don't want to do because you want it to be your magnum opus? Is that the White Wale? I want to do an (serious)abridged version of Paranoia Agent to tools "3rd eye" but I don't think I'm ready for a 14 minute song, or making an ABRIDGED abridged version if I wanted to show it anywhere

Sort of brings to mind the question, can you really say you've made your magnum opus while you're still active in the hobby (or alive)? Right now I know for myself that I've got other non-AMV projects I'm working on to devote 100% of my time again to my more grand ideas but who knows what the future may bring and maybe I'll find the time blow out of the water anything else I've made before.

Re: Magnum Opus
I haven't really made it yet. Can't say if any of my ideas for videos right now could be it, but who knows. I have many ideas, a lot of them extremely ambitious, but I don't know if I'll actually be able to finish any of them, especially the ambitious ones. I have one video that I've been planning on for quite some time that if I ever actually finish it could perhaps be considered my Magnum Opus by most and another one that if I finish it I would probably consider it my Magnum Opus mostly because it will have been my most ambitious and time consuming project. Problem is, I'm not very patient when it comes to editing so spending 6 hours to only get 2 secs of footage just doesn't sit well with me... so yeah I probably will never finish them because it's so much easier (and fun imho) to follow my standard style and and pump out a full length upbeat video in the same amount of time....
I'll probably always be known for the Dance Series or Hentai though.

Re: Magnum Opus
For me, it would be my most recent video,
Now, this apparently wasn't a very popular video (didn't even get a vca nomination), but in my opinion it stands as my greatest work.
The title comes not only from the lyrics of the song, but also the fact that this it is, quite literally, all I can do. I went through this video extremely carefully, editing, re-editing, re-editing some more. In the end, there isn't a single thing that I would go back and change about it. I can't say that about any other video that I have made.

Re: Magnum Opus
I am currently working on my magnum opus. Link in sig.
For my AMV magnum opus, I would have to say:
However, I do still have some pretty ambitious ideas...that probably won't be touched before Akazawa is done.

Re: Magnum Opus
Isn't one's Magnum Opus defined by the community and not by one's self? Therefore, it is obvious that I have yet to create anything near the level to be called an Magnum Opus.
