If one's tied up doing task A, then the other one gets to do task B. Or I just do whatever the setup in question is more adept at handling (granted, in my case I own just one computer, but I have access to a couple others).

My setup is way too old to handle doing certain things in a timely manner (converting videos longer than the average AMV into a format this thing can actually watch, for instance), so I'll use one of the others to perform that task. In the case of the laptop I have access to, I can usually just swivel around and start working on there if my computer is tied up. I also sometimes use other computers to compile stuff for this one, although there's more factors to that decision.

So, I upgraded. I got tired of having After Effects say 'Insufficent RAM. Multiprocessing Disabled'. So I went from 16GB to 24GB of RAM, with another upgrade to 32GB planned for the end of the summer. I also decided to max out my graphics card and hook up a third monitor. It's great if you want AE, Premiere and Audition open at the same time:

However, using one monitor as a preview monitor for Adobe Premiere is pretty cool too. If I had the money though, what I'd rather do is buy a 2nd graphics card for the system and then mount a 32" HDTV on the wall behind the editing station and have all preview's go there.

Or you could just get one big monitor and be done with it

I won't lie, I'd rather love to have a pair of 27" 2560x1440 displays with a 32" HDTV preview monitor in the back as opposed to three monitors, but they're probitatively expensive. One Dell Ultrasharp, even when on sale, cost more than all three of my 23" VH236H's.

And uhh, how about we compare the price tag difference between your 27" iMac there, which can't be overclocked and maxes out at 16GB of RAM, vs my system? :P Cause I think I paid a fair bit less than you and that I pack a fair bit more punch. :)

It's not like I HAVE to install APPLE RAM chips, I can put in my own 8GB chips into the two free slots I still have. 16 is the maximum that the FACTORY CAN INSTALL FOR YOU.

And since I WIRK FOR THE COMPANY, I gets a discount!

How much did you pay again?
