Study Film and Photography techniques. It will give you a vocabulary to apply to many of the things you naturally learn or attempt while making an AMV.

Re: Expressions in AMV
Yeah, I actually thought about the same thing for a while

I usually use these three terms "internal sync", "beat sync", "lyric sync"
Although, when I say "lyric sync" I mean really editting to the words, or at least to the whole picture the words make. And when I say "beat sync" I mean editting to drums but even editting to words (but the sound not the meaning). Like when the word is shouted but the rest of the words aren't and you edit to the strong word I would probably consider it a beat sync. Also I think "internal sync" is mostly combined with "beat sync" so I usually just say "beat sync".
Oh, and one more thing to "lyrics sync" In my case I usually just edit to the beats but I focus on the meaning of the words and find appropriate scences.. so in the and, there's "beat sync" as well

Well, that's my case. Not saying it's like that for everyone

Re: Expressions in AMV
Y'know, just a random thing, but I was thinking that it would be cute to have something like an urban dictionary, except for editing. I guess the AMV Wiki was trying to achieve that in some form, and I seem to remember threads cropping up from time to time about "common stuff you hear or say in the AMV world." So, we've already sort of done things like that in the past, but nothing that's really taken off. Yeah, just a drifting thought there, but this thread made me think of it again.

Re: Expressions in AMV
I had an idea in the past since there are several phrases and expressions about the amvs. But never finish the compilation.
