Koop is Koop and that's it. Why would someone even want to be like someone else? That's like super unoriginal. If someone would want to be like him, that would just be copying. There might be editors who are "close" to that style etc, but for sure not the "today's him". :bear:

Lol I believe there is so much that could have been avoided had the title been something like "Influential editors of our time" or .... most creative, hell even "editors you want to sleep with" :ying:

In any case, the editors that are just the greatest for me would be Umika, the 2 guys at ScorpionsUltd, and Bea$t. Actually there is a large list of editors who do their stuff in a very creative way, but these 3 were the 1st names I found in my amv file :bear:

So then the people who respond to threads should walk on eggshells? I'm not understanding this concept and honestly, not really seeing butthurt either. We've established that Koopiskeva is Koopiskeva and, as someone else said, the thread probably should've been titled differently. It's not butthurt, it's just a dead horse.

When I came back to AMVs in 2012 it was all about Umika. Appearently she set new Bars for Crossover Vids. When it comes to pure editing style I'd say Shin was the new Tyler? :/ strange comparison - especially because I don't feel that way myself xD

Also AMVnews probably gives a better view over what's popular. Funny to see Feel the Mambo in there xD

I think we have a generally tame level of tolerance for new members making social faux pas and asking oft-answered questions, but someone who has an old join date is expected to know better.

The last several threads OP has started come off as disingenuous, like an over-excited helicopter parent at a child's birthday party trying to force cake and games down everyone's throat "to make sure everyone has fun." It's forced conversation, presented in a bad way, and ignorant of what anyone who actually has met other people in this community would see as social norms.

(Tangent: but it will make sense at the end)

I have a good friend I met in college. He was, by all accounts, an enthusiastic social butterfly who always wanted to engage people in conversation. Not every stressed out CS student that made up his core study-group took kindly to what they saw as overbearing and fake enthusiasm. He persisted in being the extrovert that he was and stumbled upon a novel idea - the question of the day. It was elegant. It was irreverent. It was posed without any back story or obvious bias, and it held no relevance to anything else that we had talked about at any time in the recent past - A straightforward premise and question, usually lighthearted, often comedic, and somewhat frequently involving super powers. Every day a different question. Every day it would spawn different discussions. Some of them were terse, while some actually lasted for hours, but there were no expectations. We didn't talk about the same things over and over and over again. The framework of it made it a game instead of shitty, forced small-talk.

Suggestion: AMV Question of the Day.
Requirements:
- Look at the past 10 pages of General AMV for post topics (and what the conversations ultimately devolved into). All of those threads with multiple pages of responses are off limits.
- Questions should not be overly broad (i.e. "What's the best editing software?"). Occasionally they should be specific ("What Photoshop tool/button have you never understood?"). They should leave room for more than a 1-line reply.
- Try not to involve people by name. There's no need for that. It either comes off as "inner-circle" or "out of touch"
- Don't develop patterns or themes - i.e. don't keep talking about the same shit.
- Have someone who's competent at writing and holds some air of authority start out. This won't work if people have developed a mental block to taking you seriously and just ignore your posts out of hand.
- Pass the responsibility around if other people want a crack at it.

Having a list of unwritten rules people are supposed to automatically understand is probably part of the reason it's less active here than it was 5+ years ago. Our tactless conversations might be fine between a good chunk of us who have been here for so long and developed a thick skin, but while veteran editors have moved on it's left a big gaping hole. So when the next generation of editors comes in to learn and develop a rapport (ultimately filling the void), they don't automatically understand the community's abrupt and smart-ass nature - they take it personally.

Pretend you're back in high school and you see a group of kids into something that catches your interest, and as soon as you walk up they start criticizing you and calling out your faults. Would you sit down and join their group? Of course you wouldn't. You'd feel unwanted because the people you admired took one look at you and turned up their noses. And thinking "well if they really want to learn they would have sat down" is horseshit. How can they know if they're interested enough if they're never given a chance.

And I'm not sorry. the initial conversation of this thread struck a nerve with me cuz it happens way too often and it pisses me off. maybe it's just my mama bear instincts kicking in but ya'll need to stfu and get me some honey.
