What happened(Not that it matters)
Well its been a while a lot happened so i'll keep this quick compared to what most write out. To put it the shortest way possible my life feel apart in a spectacularly nightmarish fashion. I lost my home, what little bit of a social life I had and most everything else. I've been in a large hole that for the most part i kept getting shoved back down. Its been a horrible draining last year and a half, things were bad before. It's one of the reasons i didn't post much in the last few years. AMVs have been a fun hobby alas I can't really do them anymore or probably any time soon. Maybe i'll get lucky and things will really pick up I sure hope that they do.
This isn't some kind of retirement just in case anyone was wondering what happened with me. I've felt dead for about the past 2-4 years give or take. Its not a fun feeling or something i really wanted to trouble people with but hey figured now was a good time to say.
This isn't retiring, when i say i'm retired that's it for all of this.
I lasted longer then most people in this hobby, suppose that's something.
Just do me a favor guys and try to take care of each other. If you guys can succeed at that, at least one good thing will have come out of everything that's happened to me.
Be Seeing You,
Sephiroth

Re: What happened(Not that it matters)
dude, I was also thinking of posting something like this. Anyway:
At my case, I'll lose my job after may 31, so I'll no longer work until some time has passed. While this means a return in AMVs, still will be a problem of 'No money' for a month exactly. The reason why I have been out from AMVs is because things are getting complicated in the health system of my country with the loss of several doctors due a policy of 'Less medical doctors for a better payment', another reason why sometimes I think acting independent from the goverment is the best.
Fortunately I have been offered to a new hospital far away from my home, so I guess it will not last for so much, but still...
I expect, for the people that is having a hard time can get over it. After all, nothing lasts forever
Take care buddy

Re: What happened(Not that it matters)
When I started AMVs in my college years, they used to be so important to me in a "I'LL DIE IF I DON'T MAKE THIS VIDEO!!!" sort of way. I went through some tough times that were almost going to prevent me from putting out videos on a consistent basis, but things worked out in the end.
Probably around 2006 or so, AMVs were starting to get less important when I was transitioning into the "What the hell do I do with my life now?" phase. I still worked on them relentlessly (2 VG Projects and some major solo projects), but I felt things in the amv world were changing with the advent of YouTube and many other editors just stopping entirely. 2001-2005 were THE major active years for me and the .org in my opinion and it all began changing from 2006+.
Even though I consider myself retired from amvs, just remember that amvs have no deadlines or commitments and you can still pick them up again whenever you want. Many editors here have taken years off just to come back to them again.
All of the above were just *my* personal experiences with amvs and growing older. The community and amvs are more of what *you* make of it. Just remember that life won't end if you don't make amvs for a while.

Re: What happened(Not that it matters)
Personally, the fact that a number of my unfinished AMV concepts have a timeliness factor to them (if I don't get them done soon, either the songs will get stale, or nobody will get the jokes/references anymore) is one of the only things keeping me editing to even my current limited extent.Castor Troy wrote:Even though I consider myself retired from amvs, just remember that amvs have no deadlines or commitments and you can still pick them up again whenever you want. That and the fact that I still haven't won the Masters' Jacket.

Hey man I've been there before. I'm almost at that point again where I may stop editing. It will always be around. Hope things get better for you.
For myself I need to come to the realization that I may never catch up to this new generation.
