Best pick a foodstuff incapable of damaging a video screen when thrown at high velocity.Dragonrider1227 wrote:given how many AMVs are made out there, good luck enforcing that second rule XD
I like the Hot Dog vendor idea though

Second week of June, at the soonest.Cyrix wrote:I guess I'll do the obligatory "any ETA on the judging?" this year
Wouldn't work for how we do judging. The judges are provided access to the entries and are given three weeks to give us their results, so they do it on their own time. We have them use a very complex ranking system that's similar to what's used at SakuraCon which practically forces them to rewatch each vid multiple times, so they pretty much need all of those three weeks. This may be slightly premature, but suggestions to make next year's contest even better:
*Live-stream the judging process. Nothing matches the excitement of having your hopes crushed in real time!
And even if we did still do the old method of locking a bunch of people in a small room and marathoning 200+ AMVs while mildly inebriated, the kind of commentary the judges used to shout regarding some entries was certainly not the kind I'd want leaving that room.
That'd limit a LOT of material, and that'd also be an epic pain to enforce. Trying to manage 260+ vids is hard enough already.*Music freshness rules! You may only submit AMVs using songs that have never been used for any AMV in history!
Not everyone has a smartphone.*At the show, instant audience voting via those awful iClicker things they use in schools. Watch your hopes get crushed in real-time!
I'm in no hurry to find a digital replacement for the ballots. AX and SakuraCon have the nicest ballots of any con out there and I'm rather proud of that.
Then send less dubstep.*Less dubstep!
Aramark would be none to pleased with us if we did that.*Hot-dog vendors for those of us who forget to pack snacks and realize we are dying of starvation at the 3-hour mark!
I know the perfect person for the job. [looks to Yue]*Live Twitter feed along the bottom of the screen at all times during the contest! Watch your work get insulted in real-time!
Then send more dubstep.*Moar dubstep!
I'll install a disco ball for you though.

I still have my AX ballot from last year... somewhere... I think I kept it to look up videos after the con.

Well damn, color me impressed. Even if I associate that font much more strongly with Otakon.
How tall do they have to be to make everything legible? 11"? Or is 8.5" enough?
