the most prolific editors / the most watched viewers

Post by seasons » Sun Apr 24, 2016 9:24 am

Who on the Org (or elsewhere?) has released the most AMVs? I'm talking actual AMVs and not looped gifs or short Vine-style vids on Youtube (no disrespect to Youtube editors but you know the kind of videos I'm talking about).

Kai Stromler has 132 videos. maricela has 348! I wouldn't be surprised if someone has a lot more than that under their belt. Probably someone I already know of but am just forgetting?

Who's seen the most videos? Crackthesky has over 1,000 videos logged in his genome project. I can't check from where I'm at now but I'm guessing he's got at least 1200 or 1300 by now, maybe even more the number of opinions left by the person at the top of this list (honestly, how in-depth or helpful were this person's opinions?).

Surely over the years, someone like vlad or others constantly running conventions and contests have inevitably watched thousands of AMVs, right? When this site first started, Phade was watching each and every video uploaded here, right? (I mean, at least for a few weeks or months, or so I've always assumed).

Well... every year in preparation for Youmacon I watch EVERY video announced in the announcement forums for the past year, as well as random videos I've been sent and found on Youtube and what not. That's just on the AMV front. Has basically come out to little over 1k videos each year I watch in the month leading up to the con. Not including the PMVs, videos submitted to the contest, videos I see at other cons and contests, and other random videos I watch throughout the year.

As far as a real calculation, my personal archive has about 14,000 videos in it, each one I've seen at least once. But of course that's not including the contest archive, the AWA archive mirror I have, and yeah...

I love AMVs but at this point I've seen so many I honestly don't really care to keep count. I just love watching them.

I've seen a lot of AMVs in my time, just never bothered counting. My AMV folder is 50GB, and that's only the "keepers" going back into the 90s.

Strangely enough, I don't like watching many AMV's, but I love to make them. I have seen a bajillion of them though, and I can tell you most of them are probably hiding on youtube and not the org.

Just wondering, how many videos is this? The "keepers" folder I have has 401 videos that takes up 30.5 GB. Not counting whatever's in my downloads folder that I've lost track of or haven't gotten around to moving over or deleting yet.

I know I wasn't the directed responder, but to put my collection's size in context, my 'keepers' folder, having around 14k files, is about 850GB....
