Hey everyone!
I just got interested in making AMV and video editing a few days ago!
I have learned the basics of editing in Vegas pro 14 and even lil about after effects cc 2017
My question : I have no idea about the different effects that I can use! like the different kinds of transitions( I am not talking about the stock transitions that come with the editor), etc,. Is there any systematic guide to like different effects that are used in making an AMV? Or is there no other way but to just do trial and error? I want to know what all I can do, so that I don't reach a certain point and feel like I have ran out of ideas! I am also uncertain about all different types of editing I can do! So if there's a guide on that, that would help too!
Software I use : Vegas pro 14 and Adobe after effects 2017 on Windows 7 64 bit
Hardware: Intel core 2 duo 2.2 GHz with 4 GB RAM ( yeah it's pretty weak for today's standards)
Thanks a lot in advance!!!

AMVlog was a really good channel on youtube that discussed a lot of different effects. https://www.youtube.com/user/AMVlogChannel . Be warned though, learning how to make effects look good can take time. So you should really focus on learning basic editing techniques before you start going crazy with them.
But for the most part, you learn effects from trial and error and seeing people do different thing in other AMVs. So My advice for you is to just watch plenty of AMVs, and to get familiar with your own editing program. This site holds a Viewers Choice Award every year that has a "Best Use of Special Effects" category. So that might be a good place to start watching some new vids http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/amvvca/

Wow that was fast! Thank you so much, it feels great when someone guides me, rather than feeling like I am dropped in the middle of the ocean when I open these editing programs lol. So as you said , I will then first focus on my basic editing techniques. I am completely new to this field, I didn't know what was Sony Vegas and after effects until a few days ago, so I don't want to be a bothersome idiot, but, From where do I start to learn these techniques? Is there a systematic guide that will teach me everything I need to start making AMV s? It's just that when I go to YouTube and try to find tutorials, there are so many of them and I don't know where to start and where to end! So please! I really wanna learn all these and make AMVs! I also don't know what parts of an AMV I do in Sony Vegas and what parts I do in Adobe after effects!! Would really really appreciate your help! Thanks again!kireblue wrote:AMVlog was a really good channel on youtube that discussed a lot of different effects. https://www.youtube.com/user/AMVlogChannel . In my opinion, this is the best AMV guide ever written. http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... =2&t=92942 . Even though it was posted about 8 years ago, pretty much everything in it is still 100% true. I feel that all new editors and even experienced editors should read it at least once.
