New to AMVs

Hey everyone I am new to the AMV scene. I love watching everyone's creations. You are all so talented!

I would likr to start making AMVs, obviously. I think I am going to start with windows movie maker since I am a beginner. I was just wondering if there were any tips/tricks or tutorial videos out there to help me out.

Many of the videos I have seen assume that I have knowledge of the programs being utilized. I am a total noob, fresh to the AMV craftworld, so I know nothing.

Any replies/help is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend wmm, it's pretty trash program even for starting : P It can get really annoying to do stuff there. Better start Sony vegas, or Magix , Premiere

Wmm is pretty easy to use , but yeah just google what you want.

It's mostly personal preference,m so give a shot each program and see which what you like . I wouldn't say it matters much since you want to start but sony vegas is more intuitive than Adobe premiere, Magix maybe not : P.

Why not try using Windows Movie Maker and just see how you enjoy the experience of making a video?

Like, it's really easy to use and you can focus on your ideas and not get bogged down in the frustrations of using a new program right off the bat. And when you're all finished working on something, if you find that you were frustrated by the limitations of WMM or you want more precision in where you place your cuts or what else you want to do in a video (transitions, effects, etc) then moving on to a more advanced editing suite will make sense and you'll have some more motivation and rationale for doing so.

I totally agree with seasons here. I LOVE the Adobe Suite (Premiere, After Effects), but the learning curve would bring Chuck Norris to his knees. Starting off, I would use free editing software and I think getting the hang of it there can pay dividends when you start learning really professional programs.

I had to use the Windows 7 version of WMM once at work and it seemed really nerfed compared to WMM2.1 for Windows XP (= what a lot of AMVers used to use). It used to be that you could only get as precise as every other frame in WMM; now I don't know if you can even get that.

Have I just not spent enough time with the new version? Is it still suitable for AMV editing?
