  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Hey guys! ^^ I'm pretty new to this site so I'm not completely familiar with it yet. It's not super recent but it's still my latest AMV. Enjoy!

This AMV was really all over the map, but to an extent that it's almost an achievement in itself.

I have a hard time telling what the theme of this video is, it's never really clear whether this is an action AMV or a "fun" AMV, and good AMVs can exist in that grey zone in between but I guess I was a little conflicted between the prevalence of the violence and the lighthearted tone of the song.

I do think you did a good job picking out scenes with lots of movement and interesting visuals, and that you paced the video pretty well for the tempo and the vibe of the song. But it never really came together and gave me the impression of a single world or a single theme, I guess. In spite of that, it's still appealing and I'm interested to see what you'll do next.

There are aspect ratio issues in a lot of the 4:3 sources that were stretched out to reach the edges of the 16:9 frame that you'd selected with your widescreen footage in mind. Maybe try leaving those sources in their original 4:3/"fullscreen" shape and just making them bigger so that they reach all the way to the edge of the screen? You'll stuff on the top and/or bottom that you'll have to choose to leave off-screen, so you'll have to make some decisions about how to do that on a case-by-case basis but I think it'll help bring everything together in a more visually cohesive way.

Yeah I didn't really have a guideline while I was making it. I was sorta just going for a feeling lol. The song is very upbeat so I thought it would match up to some really cool scenes. It was something I made that was fun to put together, just finding clips that would match the flow/vibe of the song. And also focusing on making it sync nicely.

As for the aspect ratio thanks for the advice! I've been editing for a while but there's still a lot of things I don't know (or notice), each new video I make I try to improve/be more impressive technically. ^^
