AnimeFest 2019 AMV contest - Winners Announced
I'm happy to be able to announce that the AnimeFest 2019 AMV contest is open for submissions! You can see our rules at:
https://animefest.org/u/e/AF2019/Activi ... deoContest
So, this year we're changing a couple of things up. We've had fewer and fewer entrants in the comedy category, so this year we're changing it to the Fun category - which is going to cover comedy, upbeat, and dance videos. Yes, there are some real differences between an upbeat video and a comedy video, but we have lots of experience judging them, so I believe that we'll be able to give all of those submissions the respect that they deserve.
The next big thing is that we're not going to be mailing out awards or prizes - we're going with Amazon eGift Cards for our prizes this year. I've run this AMV contest for quite a while, and we've gone from sending out award trophies and plaques, to sending out goods that were autographed by our convention guests - I felt like that had a more unique feel than a plaque. But, in all of these years, the shipping companies made out like bandits. Sending a prize package overseas, frankly, costs a lot, and I'd rather that those funds end up as part of the prize purse rather than going to a third party shipper that is just getting the editor their package.
Winners in each of the three categories will receive a $100 eGift card, and the first runner up in each category will receive a $50 eGift card. Across our three categories, we're having $450 in prizes this year.
I look forward to your contest entries! Feel free to ask me here if you have any questions.

I seem to always get this question vi email, and I'll answer it here as well. We're happy to allow fan videos that use cut scenes from games, and animation that isn't strictly anime. If you've got a Dragon Prince AMVs that's banging, we want to see it!

One month left for submissions! Plenty of time to get your AMV in. Enter your awesome AMVs! I really look forward to awarding our Amazon Gift Card prizes.

Magicflier, that hurts to hear. I'd be willing to exhibit your AMV, but it wouldn't be eligible for the contest. I'm so sorry!

And, contestants, if you got a message from me saying that I got a good download of your video, then we're good! If you didn't get such a response from me, please ping me, and we'll figure out what's up.
Good luck in the contest!
