Without seeing any evidence of this, I am skeptical, as this contradicts information that I came across in my own investigation. There are multiple people with the name Kevin Caldwell, so could it be possible that you found information about someone else?Kireblue wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 6:53 amHow did you learn of this?HXninjaKid wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 12:01 amHello, couldn't help to noticed you tried to contact Kevin. That one apparently has a better version of the last scene. Maybe I didn't do my homework as well as I should have!HXninjaKid wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 12:15 amI found that the phantom of the opera is in HD in youtube. You should check this version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wsR6fBudQE
Sadly, that video plays loose with the timing and inexplicably changed some scenes...

Today's video is Engel.
Here's my hot take: I think it's one of Kevin's worst videos. Fite me.

What a monumental effort. Thank you Zarxrax, this was truly wonderful and despite turning off most of my notifications over the years, I am so glad I still received this one when you uploaded.
I especially enjoyed your writeups about the videos, both on the information available, the contents of the video, and your reviews. I know they are on your website and also in this thread, but maybe they could be copied into the video descriptions? (I know you dropped links)
For the Phantom of the Opera scene in the youtube video, perhaps you could contact the creator as to the source? I am sure you already did that though.
Again, thank you, definitely made me come out of my lurk for this.

Re: Kevin Caldwell Complete Remasters
Well they are all released now, and a torrent is available at https://nyaa.si/view/1259137
This has been fun.
For Phantom of the Opera, I'm just going to wait on the new US blu-ray release before I change anything. It might turn out that they have a better transfer and I can just redo the whole thing. Not that the current one looks bad or anything though. There is also a (small) chance some of these other sources might come out on blu-ray eventually.
I didn't really put any info in the video descriptions because some of my write ups reference other ones, so I felt its best to read it all in one place.

Re: Kevin Caldwell Complete Remasters
I have not made an AMV or been involved in the community for years, but like others, got a notification via e-mail and decided to check it out.
Alan thank you for your efforts in recreating these. It was a trip down memory lane. For some, these memories go back almost 20 years and it was great to relive them again.
Take care!

Re: Kevin Caldwell Complete Remasters
Lol, it's totes fine that that you think it's one of his worst, but I'll bite.
I know this AMV is practically a meme these days but I do love this video an awful lot. It's not my number one of Kevin's (that spot is firmly held by Caffeine Encomium), however it's quite high up there.
First of all there's the nostalgia factor. It took hold right around when Rammstien was getting big, combined with being one of the few competently edited videos to their work it got super popular so a lot of people loved it.
Second is the lip syncing. I agree the technical aspect of this could have been done better, however I adore the scene selection in these parts as I feel the characters expressions are very well matched to the tone of the song/video. I especially enjoy when Shinji is the one singing.
Third the tone of the video. This is something I can see people getting confused at. Overall the video is quite tongue in cheek but it does also get a bit heavy, I quite like the balance between these two that the video has.
Finally, probably one of my favourite parts of any AMV is 2.19 - 2.28. The clip is onscreen for almost 10 seconds and it manages to sync to two different people singing, plus the little pop sound at the end. Now I have no idea how much the clip is edited to fit that, but still it's something that has inspired some of my own editing style.
At the end of the day, this video will always have a special place in my heart.
Honestly dude, thank you so much for remastering all of these, it's been really special to be able to watch all of these in high quality. They were already pretty notorious but hopefully now with these versions added they will be forever cemented in AMV history. Especially for all the new AMV editors who may have not come across them before.
