Another labour of love + impotence from the guy who knows most about only one of those things

I am consistently impressed by your edits. What I really love about this one is how you were able to capture both the mood of the lyrics and the raw feel of the music in a very cohesive presentation. This was my first time hearing this song, and I'm glad you made this so memorable that I'll now associate it with FLCL and your video any time l hear it.

Man oh man Synaesthesia, that genuinely means a lot coming from you and I really appreciate it! Thanks so much for taking the time to check it out and give such kind feedback! Also super glad I could be your introduction to this Wilco track, I think this album in particular from them has a lil more of a rough 'n' rowdy edge than their more popular Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and has kept me coming back a lot.

This is great.

I shouldn't be surprised by that or by the existence of this video, but somehow I am.

Not the kind of mood that FLCL usually invokes but here it is and now it feels like, well, of course this was meant to be.

Hard for me to articulate my feelings about this but I really loved it.

Many thanks Seasons!! Glad you dug it!

Funny that you mentioned the tonal shift from how FLCL is usually handled. I hadn't seen FLCL for a few years when I'd started making this vid, and I just went through it on mute in my editing software to cut out all the shots I could use. Just focusing on the imagery without audio, besides the more absurd slapstick segments and fights of course, the show does reveal a sort of bittersweet nostalgic melancholy to it not unlike something like American Graffiti or US Go Home. So I based the video around that, and then returned after finishing to the show with the audio and had forgotten how the soundtrack and dialogue give the show this constant pop punk-y pulse that gives it a different energy, so I totally see how most editors be more in-tune with that if they're doing a different editing process than me.

This video embodies the soul of FLCL. All the strongest, most visceral emotions that I remember feeling the first time I watched the series came roaring back as I sat through this. There have been several FLCL AMVs over the years that have been able to do exactly that, but this is definitely one of the best. And man, the editing -- I was enjoying your super relaxed, loose approach, but then the last quarter or so of the video just blew me away. Your vision and approach to making AMVs is as rock-solid as ever, I'm constantly looking forward to your next release. Excellent work my friend!
