I used to follow the "(c)rap" crowd, but I don't anymore as there is that 1% of rappers that actually aren't bad. Hip-hop and rap I tend to have a hard time telling apart, but I tend to dislike hip-hop even more since it seems so god-awfully inconsistent in beat, intentionally!, while at the same time having the same level of rehashed crap you find in 90%+ of rap songs. How many times can you brag about what crimes you got away with?, how many times can you mope about going to jail?, how many times are you gonna tell the story of how you (tried to) get laid (and failed)?, why must you go on about what cars and jewels you got? These kinds of people try way way WAY too hard to prove something, while (to me) often sounding absolutely terrible at the same time. Given, there's a small percentage of rap/hip-hop that doesn't really fall into those categories, but you tend to hear things along those lines a lot, which as someone has said, gets pretty old, FAST. But there is some fun/clever rap, however scarce.

You have thought a lot about why 99% of rap sux. Haven't you? :| I do listen to the kind of rap your talking about and it does get old. On the other hand there are rap/hip-hop artists that dont rap about that stuff all the time and I know its not 1%. But hay thats just what i think  ( you cant just group all the same kinds of sound that you find in the main stream stuff and the really good stuff{ but 'course I like mostly all of it.}that you find late at night on all the music channels.)But hay thats just what i think ...................again.

I like rap but I have to say it IS getting worse since rappers like Jay Z and Ja Rule keep getting famous, they change their style and they diss other rappers that could be so much better than them Ja Rule disses DMX, Jay Z disses Mobb Deep, The LOX, etc. Songs always get played out(Eminem's songs), they are constantly played on the radio. 50 Cent was better a few years ago before he got popular, Wanksta was good when I first heard it but it got played out just like any of Eminem. If you want to know of some good rappers that have good lyrics, listen to Mos Def or Talib Kweli, they're not hardcore or anything, they speak more about issues and stuff like that. Its some good stuff.

I'm a little more into stuff like punk and rock now.

Well.. Jay-z is a good rapper IMO... mainly cause he doesnt do the same ol' same ol' all the time like most others... and he can flow (freestyle) really good also. One of my friends told me he said he freestyled his whole last album.. which was 2 cds.. I dont really believe that.. but im sure he flowed on a few tracks.. but definatly not all of em.

Ja-rule is a bitch.. tryin to fuck wid DMX... but he jus got chumped like an idiot.. Also i dont like how he seems to want to be an R&B artist more then a rapper.. fag :P

I don't have very strong opinions of rap. I don't really like it that much, and I wouldn't listen to it by choice. But on the other hand, I can appriciate it, and tolerate listening to it. The driving motive of my post is to roll over and create a new page, so that I don't have to hit the bottom scroll bar anymore :D

Jay Z is talented I can't argue with that but his old stuff was the best from him, hes getting too commercial and starts rapping about money and stuff that he already has probably. I just don't like it when rappers just rap about something stupid like money or anything, I like it when they tell how it is in the streets and stuff.

Ja Rule was really good on his first CD yet his second one... was horrible, his 3rd was a little improvement of the 2nd IMO, I don't plan on listening to him because he really sucks now.

DMX is one of the best rappers ever IMO. He is pretty famous and popular and he sticks to his own style and it never gets old. He doesn't have any real bad albums, although The Great Depression was the worst of all his albums... it was still pretty good.

Speaking of DMX... what do you think about the Ruff Ryderz as a whole? I think there 1st cd was the best.. while vol. 2 was the worse of the bunch. Jadakiss and Dragan are pretty coo... and EVE is also pretty good.

They're cool, haven't listened to their CDs only their solo projects. Haven't heard too much from Eve but she was pretty good from what I've heard, Jadakiss and the rest of the Lox are really good. Drag-On is alright too.
