You know, the main idea behind this post was to have people explain why their favorite series was their favorite series. Just listing them, doesn't really help get others interested, and makes the topic a bit bland. You know? :)

I like Angelic Layer a lot too, because it also deals with family brokeness. Which, although much more proliferant in non-mecha anime. Is still an innovative topic to broach with an engaging fighting-game as it's backdrop. Plus, it shows people drawing closer to each other through a hobby that they love and share. Sort of like us AMVers, no? :)

Violinist of Hameln

Reason: The Story for the VoH series is great.. they never once lost a feel for what they were trying to accomplish, even as a low budget project, the story didn't feel low budget, the voice acting is superb, but the animations falter... thankfully the exceptional soundtrack, ingenious use of music (thanks to the great manga) and the unique twist of characters (in contrast to the manga) makes for a VERY good Anime to watch and to own

definatly my favorite, the character development is incredibly good aswell.. Hameln must be the most troubled and confused (without being stupid) individual to ever grace any anime i've seen... the emotion that drips out of the anime is outstanding aswell...

for all the reasons I could enjoy any anime, they're all present in this anime, with the exception of high quality animation which isn't evident in this anime, but then again is hardly needed.. although would have been appreciated ;)

the ending was abrupted due to the lack of funds... but in a way, the cut off ending, is so good in terms of how tragic it is, that I think the series was better off ending at that moment anyway... (GREAT ending in terms of the feel of the anime all the way through depressing until the very bitter end.)

so theres my reason of why I love Violinist of Hameln..

urusei yatsura---Because it has lum in it. while some episodes are just totally wierd the majority of it is hilarious. In case there is someone that dosen't know the premise of the show Earth is threatened by aliens. Boy is chosen to fight aliens in a game of tag. Boy wins Accidentally proposes to alien ogre girl. Ogre girl( LUM) finds out how much of a lech boy is and starts giving him electric shocks which she generates with her horns. Boy must then try any way he can to date other girls. At first Lum seems downright evil but as the series goes on you begin to like her alot more than the boy and feel sorry for her.

Slayers-The first anime I saw. I have never found a series as good. Most people know that this show is about an undersized sorceress who happens to be the second most powerful in the world. It is everything that the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon should have been .

OK, reasoning, sure. I can do that. Gives me something to do. :P

As you read earlier, my fave series is Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki

The number one reason to love Tenchi is the characters. They're all frickin' awesome. Also, they are all very deep, each and every one of them having a backgrouns story that beats most other shows in originality and complexity.

If you are not familiar with Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki, it's north american title would just be "Tenchi Muyo!", and it's an OVA. So in other words, I am speaking purely about the Tenchi OVA, and NOT about "Tenchi Universe" (TV series) or "Tenchi in Tokyo" (TV series 2, "Shin Tenchi Muyo", "Shin" meaning "New").

In any case, the OVA world consists of the two original OVA runs of the show, consisting of 13 episodes. It also refers to "Tenchi Muyo! GXP", even though GXP was a TV series, it is still part of the overal "OVA universe".

Anyway, back to the characters and their unique complex backgrounds. They all seem to intertwine as time goes by. Not only so we get to see their background stories somewhat in the show, but if you want to learn about everything, there's 3 novels that original creator Masaki Kajishima wrote, titled "Shin Tenchi Muyo" ("Shin" meaning "True"). Each novel focuses on a different aspect of the far gone past of the Tenchi storyline. Novel #1 is titles "Jurai", number 2 is titled "Yosho", and number 3 is titled "Washu". THe novels go into painstaking detail explaining the background and making everything as clear as crystal. It really adds a feeling of authenticity to the universe.

The novels are not translated to english officially, but fan translations and short versions of them can be found here and there online. (Want more info? Just ask me... I have links somewhere around here.)

The storyline of the Tenchi OVA is great as well. It has an absolutely perfect balance of comedy, romance, action, drama, and sci-fi. Comedy and Romance quite often take the same form, as Ryoko and Aeka in particular fight for Tenchi's affections, quite often ending in one funny situation after another. (Episode 7 is a riot!) THe action, when it's there, explodes on the screen like any action masterwork. From the first action scenes in episode one where Ryoko is chasing Tenchi through the school, to the swordfight between Yosho and Kagato in episode 5, to the battle of wits between Washu and Dr. Clay in episode 12... all of the action sequences are perfectly executed, and leave nothing to be desired. they are, simply put, astounding. Sci-fi elements definitely exist in the form of outer space battles, spaceships, light swords, blasters, galaxy police, and a lot more stuff. It's a Sci-Fi Efficianado's dream world. Especially in Tenchi GXP where you really get to see the GP trechnology in action!

Anyway... Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki is THE GREATEST SHOW EVER in my opinion and many others around the world.

Be on the lookout for a third season coming out sometime this year... GET READY FOR THE CHOUSHIN WAR! :) 8) An epic and huge battle between Washu, Tsunami, and Tokimi is coming in this new season.. plus we'll be seeing a whole lot of Ryoko and Tenchi fighting to their full potential (Which was lacking in OVA season 2... although season 2 is still good! :) )

Anyway... There you have it! Tenchi! Best.... Show... EVER!!

I wouldn't kill ya! Tenchi Universe has many plusses to it that the OVA doesn't have. While its storyline is not as deep, and its filler episodes can get tedious sometimes, it has an awesome plot (Which is basically a rework of OVA 1). It also has, of course, new characters. Kiyone, Nagi, the black haired Kagato, and humanoid versions of Azaka and Kamidake. The last few episodes are a frickin' RUSH! Absolutely awesome end to the series! And then of course, after the series, you have Tenchi Muyo in Love and Tenchi Forever to add an even larger sense of completeness to it all.

No no, TU is great, and I don't hate you for liking it better at all.

Yay! Well its one the one I saw first I was desperate for anime after just running out of slayers tapes to buy so I rented everything they had at blockbuster. Taped the first one bought the rest. Tenchi in love was great and so was the second tenchi movie but if Tenchi forever is the last movie I put it in the garbage heap with tenchi in tokyo.

HAHAHA! Time for you to hate me now! I like Tenchi in Tokyo ;) And Tenchi Forever, while slow moving, has many great points.. Especially ythe bonding between Aeka and Ryoko. It's a beautiful thing. :P

Mind you, I still call TF "Tenchi Gets Some" most of the time ;)

The art quality dropped bigtime for tenchi in tokyo Its unbearable and tenchi forever is horrid. As for tokyo It does have that hot chick sakuya or whatever her name was.
