Ok so a good "Contest Winning" AMV could take up to say a couple of weeks and month's while a good.. and plain amv could take up to say less than a week or even a couple of day's right??? So how do I really know when I've maid a "Contest Winning" AMV even if it does sorta tell me "yeah that's what I want, and how i wanted it" what else should I do before I make it final, and most importantly does a song play role in this, would a slow song be harder to make or fast past kind, sorta like trance or new age... and can some post a couple of contest winning amv's for both drama, and action

No. Stop. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200. This is not about creating 'Contest Winning' AMVs, it's about sharing your vision with other people. If you're in this to win contests, you're really in it for the wrong reason.

bottom line, I think that there is about as much in the concept as there is in the exacution, an even 50 50.

From what I have learned, as long as the AMV is an inspired one that you have fun making, and the song fits the type of video you are trying to make well enough the creation process with take care of itself.
(At least that is the way it goes for me when I try to make a good AMV.)

the give an example I made an AMV taking place from the POV of the stalker in perfect blue. The song I chose was beutiful disaster by 311. The song beutiful disaster fit the type of AMV I was trying to make well because The theme of the song fit the type of video I was trying to make. Total production time, 14 hours.

The best AMV's are the ones that are inspired, and I am enthousiastic about making. And if the song and theme of the AMV fit well enough together (this is from personal experience) the clips just seem to fall into place. When I was making the AMV to my favite song I used Knockin on heavens door. And I knew the song so well that I actually got the punches and kicks to match up with every note of the music.

I guess that I am trying to say basicaly is to

A. have the best song possible to match up with the theme of your AMV and

B. have as much fun as possible making the AMV

At least I think that is whats important to making a good AMV, am I wrong?

of course there are exeptions to any rule, look at tainted donuts for example, the song isn't even english but the music video is still one of my favorites.
