my friend, Gordon, at AWA coined a nice term a year ago for the abuse suffered during an import.

"Boy that got Zero-Winged in the translation. . ."

I was going now where. I was saying most anime leaves me uninspired. Does a statement like that have to "go somewhere" to have meaning?

Ahhh... so you just want to be a voice of cynicism no matter what the case is.

Just perfect.

Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

I kind of know what you mean. It's not Metropolis-crappy, but I'm having a hard time finding the drive to watch past episode 6. It may have something to do with watching Onegai Teacher when I was in the middle of Mahoro, which is a far superior series in every imaginable.

The point I am about to make may well sound egotistical, but bear with me, because I am sure that there are other people that feel the same.
I haven't been interested in anime for as long as some people. In fact, by many peoples standards, I am a veritable band-waggon-leaper-onner.
I first became interested in anime in 1999. I didn't see much of it, or even know what it was called.
Now, let me explain something; I am from the UK. I have FIVE TV channels. The first anime I ever saw was Pokemon. That may well be considered as the worst anime ever, I don't care! The second anime I saw was Digimon. You may hate it. I don't care! It was what got me into anime in the first place. Sure, some of this stuff may stink, but each to his own. Even the crappy stuff makes me desparate to watch more!
I am not saying we should all like anime because its anime, and call me a nerd-slut, but whatever is filtered down to me via TV or video is blummin' precious to me, cos I don't know when I'll next get a taste!
Plus, consider that even the "poor" stuff can get people (like me) hooked, and onto the "good stuff". I heard about anime through watered down crappy stuff. Does that make me a worse fan, or just someone who *gasp* has a different opinion?!
earthcurrent wrote:Yet I remain a general fan of anime as there are people in the community that I like, and there are indeed those few gems that twinkle along that make me happy I took the time to watch.
Thank you. My point exactly.

is it just me or does the world of Pokemon suffer from a very small gene pool?
