Honestly, I think i was four when I saw Akira, sad thing was, I understood it... :? . It was only recently that I decided to buy anime tapes, and, if I'm not mistaken, the first anime dvds I bought were the Cowboy Bebop series, noir v1, and princess monokee

I think the first anime I ever saw was dubbed episodes of Sailor Moon when they were showing them on T.V. real early in the morning a long time ago, although I didn't even know what anime was at the time. I believe the first anime I bought was the Ghost in the Shell movie on VHS.

I saw some episode of Robotech, Ronin Warriors and some generic action-fantasy show when I was a child, but it was seeing Cowboy Bebop on Adult Swim that just a year or so ago that made me into an anime fan. That's a really good show.

My first anime was Princess Mononoke. My friend MADE me see it (I was really under the impression that it would suck b/c it was animated) but now I own it and watch it religiously, along with all the other Anime stuff I've got.

Since then I've learned not to be so biased.
