GAH I should have reworded this...

I won't teach [step by step] how to cut and razor edit stuff and then move stuff around in premiere's timeline... blah blah [read the manual, it's called the F1 key...]

ONCE THEY GOT THAT, then if they ask me stuff that borders on "unexplainable..." [it's almost always, "how'd you do that?"]

I'd give them a VERY basic walkthrough. [what's neat is I tell everyone who asks the same damn thing... "Once you master motion and transparency, your creativity is limitless in the effects Premiere can provide before you move on to After Effects]

If you are already using After Effects, please teach me some custom stuff? ^_^
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

One thing I learned recently (through experience...and I felt like an idiot for not noticing it.) If you're using multiple track layers for different transparency settings, it's best to arrange them so that the one with the lowest opaquity percentage is on top. Main layer (100%) goes on bottom. Got layers with 75%, 30%, 50%, and 25%, too... stack 'em (from top to bottom) 25, 30, 50, 75, 100.

I had 3 clips overlapping (very briefly, and yes it looks rather clean, surprisingly), and I had 'em misarranged, so it looked like shit. I hit myself for overlooking such a simple detail afterwards.

A couple of months ago, I didn't even know how. Then my friend pointed out the little transparency slide-bar next to each track layer.

actually, in my spare time i've been working on an "idiots guide" style version of AD&E's guide.....it's slow going though :\ working midnights and trying to edit doesn't leave me much time to work on it. oh well ^^ i'll finish it eventually
