Adding Text? DvD ripping?

Hi im fairly a newbie, i havent uploaded a video yet(ive tried but cant get it to work :x ) but ive just finshed my third video which im confident in, so im planning on posting it BUT i need to know if there is any FREE program which allows me yo pot text on to videos, i want this for my end credit. Also is there any free program that allows me to rip DvD segments as in just clips of the anime DvDs i have, I know of the ones that rip the whole dvd , i dont want that thx for your help in advance........dont flame me :( i searched for a similar topic.

I suggest going here for all free programs and just general help in making videos http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech/

And to make a credit slide just make a still image in any image program and import it into your video

This sounds like a job for:

Take a key and shave off the tracks you want. Remember movie DVDs are dual layer, so to get all the tracks you will have to dig deep. Do not turn off the PC and pry open your harddrive (smoke while doing so), now dump those shavings in to it. Close it back up with some duct-tape, and try to access the files. Quick and easy!
