1. Country Road(s), originally (I believe) by John Denver. Sung numerous times throughout "Mimi o Sumaseba", commonly known as "Whisper of the Heart". Two Japanese versions are used in the movie- a fairly literal translation of the lyrics, and a joking translation entitled "Concrete Road", sung by the seiyuu for several of the main characters. Generally useless trivia, Olivia Newton John sings the version at the beginning of the movie, which confused the hell out of us when we first got a fansub tape of this movie- we knew it was really new, but thought somehow we'd gotten an English dub of the movie
2. The Rose, sung or at least popularized by Bette Midler. An exceptionally beautiful Japanese rendition of this song appears at the end of "Omoide Poroporo", commonly known as "Only Yesterday", sung by Miyako Harumi if my research is correct.
Truth told, I don't off the top of my head know what the third is- I'd definitely like you to tell us what it is, CliffD.
Ashyukun, you've got two of them on all points. As for the third, it was a song near the end of
My Neighbors the Yamadas, called "Que Sera Sera," sung in Japanese by several cast members of the film. Now I don't know for certain if "Que Sera Sera" (Yes, that's the English title) made it onto any pop charts in the US (definitely before my time, possibly before my PARENTS time), but it IS a very famous piece of music to fans of Alfred Hitchcock; Doris Day sang this song in one of the pivotal scenes of the second version of
The Man Who Knew Too Much (the one with Jimmy Stewart, not Peter Lorre).

In City Hunter, Umibozu is pretty much fearless and unfazed by anything that gets thrown at him- with one noteable exception (actually, technically there are to, I'm looking for the physical one). What is that exception?
I'm not going to answer this one, although I THINK I know what the exception is.
HELP!! I'm being held prisoner by CLAMP fans!! We Demand -- er, They Demand -- uh, OH, FORGET IT!! It's Fun Here!!
