The Ultimate Anime Battle : Dubbed VS Subbed
The biggest anime battle that most don't even know about. Which is better? English Dubbed or Japanese w/ Subtitles?
You obviously don't wanna read words while alot of cool-insane action is going on. But how many of you have actually watched an anime both ways?
I've done this with some animes, and 100% of the time, the Japanese dialogue is better. The voice acting is better. The voice actors are more into the anime. It's alot more accurate.
But English Dubs are getting better now. The Slayers Motion Picture from ADV has the best English Dubbed anime voice acting ever. Great script too. Excel Saga's english voice actors are really good too, even if you really can't understand what they're saying most of the time.
So I'm just wondering, what do ALL OF YOU think about this? Tell me which one you think is better, English Dubbed or Japanese w/Subtitles. Say anything you wanna say!

Most of the series recently dubbed by ADV are done pretty well. (Note, most, not all.) I still prefer subtitled anime to dubs though, on the whole it seems more accurate and 'faithful' I suppose. But you're right, on the whole American dubs are improving. Bandai's dubs are decent too, if not great. Some other ADV dubs that I know were decent and worth checking out:
New Getter Robo: Armageddon (AKA Shin Getter Robo)
Bubble Gum Crisis Tokyo 2040
A.D. Police TV - To Protect and Serve

Sub all the way the voice acting is a hell of a lot better than dub i like to hear a curse over and over a gain that way i learn something new you learn japanese while having fun (just like phonics yay) And most of the scenes that i have seen with a lot of action dont have much talking and if you missed a part because you are a slow reader here is a little secret there is this feature called rewind in dvd's.

Dubbed- A lot of anime fans don't want to have to deal with the bother of reading subtitles and would rather be able to enjoy the shows without haveing to continaully look down at the screen every time someone talks.
Subtitled- If you hear the original Japanese voice actors, they are alost always better thean the guys that they drag off the street to do the American dubbing. For some reason, most anime characters are dubbed to sound like Saturday morning cartoon characters. Subtitling, on the other hand, allows the viewer to hear much more emotion from the shows. Also, English-dubbers have a bad habit of "Americanizing" the script by changing certain phrases or terminology that cannot be translated easily. A lot of jokes (puns mostly) are lost when things are dubbed.

macross sub - great
macross dub - there really is no god
cowboy bebop sub - pssh, okay i guess
cowboy bebop dub - spike and jet sound damn cool. GREAT DUB
evangelion sub - great acting(shitty show)
evangelion dub - good acting, butchered script
these series being the only ones i have seen of both the sub and dub, all i can say about subbed and dubbed series is it varies. sometimes the dub is better in every way. such as cowboy bebop: i feel the dub got the story across better, plus it had waaay better acting, and again, spike sounds damn cool. but in macross, shitty acting and a horribly rapped script in the dub, but a great series was portrayed in the sub. and last, evangelion, great acting on both the sub and dub, but the dub shit on the original story.
FELDMEN RULES

Today I was done getting my rips of the 7 3x3 Eyes OVAs. To my horror ova5 was a rip from the pioneer DUB and I was reminded yet again of the gut twisting horrors that bad dub acting can induce. I bared the entire 50mins, and am gratefull that nothing else is DUBBED...
*Why do dubbing companys often replace cool sounds like monster growls or snarls with voice actors grunting from constipation?*
