It'll be a bad idea for the economy..
People would no longer go to strip clubs and those poor girls who have no talent will have to resort to other methods like prostatution and or crime.

Then theres the whole 'well if its allowed on the beach, why not in public'.
I reckon they should make the laws equal.
Make it illegal for guys to go topless aswell, that way its all even. Then there will be a influx for a demand for male strippers because girls are just as horny as guys but they get what they want too easily so don't show the frustrations males do.

As for the topless issue. I am not sure if it's such a great idea. Breasts are considered sexual objects. So they're covered up. This has been going on for so long, that I doubt many people would want it to change. But as Misty said, us men are visual creatures. I think women are less so, but I think a woman could still get hot over a guy with a nice chest and abs. But still ^_^;;. Heh heh, breasts just have been engrained in society has sex objects. You're most likely going to see a woman nice breasts selling something than a man with a nice chest. Where am I going here?

OK, I guess I'll say. Breasts turn me on. Breasts turn many men on. Breasts can cause people to either turn away and go "ewww" or they can make a guy get a sprained penis. Breasts get a fair bit of attention during sexual intercourse. I guess you could say and mans chest may get the same amount of use, but I am going to say no. All women have breasts, not all men have nice sexy chests.

Topless men have been around for millenniums. Topless women have not. I guess I am getting back to the thing that breasts seem sexual and would be a distraction on a functioning society. I think car crashes would go up and maybe even sexual crimes or sexual harrasment.

I think maybe designating locations, mainly beaches, for this kind of activity. But I would find it hard to go out to lunch with a female friend who is topless. ^_^;;

More power too them, just they're probably opening "pervdoras box".

Ha hahah, with the silly puns.

On second thought...

And besides, the way society is going, women are flaunting their breasts anyways, and with the body paint thing going on, it's only too soon for women's clothing to stop covering breasts completely...

So it's going to get to this point sometime, regardless.
Hrm... Sure if it became a custom, certain people would accept it, but men aren't going to stop oogling topless women. As far as clothing that bares breasts completely, I couldn't see that becoming too popular. Not only because women don't want their breasts to start sagging before they hit menopause, but because certain shirts and bras are much sexier than the naked body.

We already have places we can go to see topless women, so why not keep it that way? There are plenty of nude communities and beaches. People can't have everything they want, and those women have to make a choice between staying at their jobs, family and friends, or being able to walk around naked. Maybe some parents don't want their children to see that. Sure, boys (and some girls) are gonna have porn, but a lot of people wouldn't be comfortable subjecting their children to that sort of environment.

And some strip clubs are still required to have their women wear little stickers over their nipples. Speaking of nipples, if women actually did start going topless in public, it'd take all the excitement out of nipple slips at big award shows and stuff.

As far as the whole thing being unfair (because men can do it), maybe the sexes don't hafta be completely equal in every way. You could consider that our laws go further to protect women than they do men. If we had a draft, would women be included (I don't know)? And women almost always win custody when it comes to divorces and children. One law ought not to be passed unless it satisfies the majority of the people under its delegation.

This can't be about weather conditions. There are plenty of women's clothing styles that are skimpy enough to keep you cool.

This should definitely be an interesting case to follow. There are a number of places in the world where it's completely normal for women to be able to go topless on beaches and such- I spent about 6 years in Germany due to my dad being stationed there by the Army, and it wasn't at all uncommon for there to be topless women at the beach. Nobody made anything of a big deal about it. My wife worked as a lifeguard at one of the Disney water parks at Disney World for a semester, and the guards had to frequently remind the women from other countries that they were not allowed to take their tops off. True, there are a number of places in the world with much stricter restrictions on women's attire (see: the Middle East), but probably just as many if not more where the naked body isn't nearly as taboo as it is here. I can remember commercials in Germany for things like bath products and shampoos and such where they simply showed people in the shower or bath using the products without having to use all the fancy camera angles and bubble baths that are necessary here.

Personally I hope they succeed, and not because I'm a guy and therefore must want to be able to oogle all the women walking around topless. It is somewhat stupid that there is a difference between the laws for the two sexes in this respect, but then it's also stupid to completely disregard the difference. I think a change in the laws would be good because so much of our restrictions are based on very outmoded puritanical laws from hundreds of years ago. How stupid is it that you can't show something completely normal, like a breast, on broadcast tv but you can show people being dismembered or blown up or gunned down or other acts, for lack of a better term, ultra violence? All it does is teach people (especially kids) that 'your body is bad and must be kept hidden, but violence is just fine.'

If they do win and get the laws changed (which I don't see happening, unfortunately), I imagine though that you won't see women walking around left and right topless just like you don't generally see men walking around topless all the time (well, at least in most normal situations). And the same 'no shirt, no shoes, no service' signs will still be up at restaurants and the likes. I don't think kids have to worry about the lunch ladies either- they have to wear hairnets (and in some cases, gloves), you can bet health regulations will require them to wear shirts.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Ten women sued Brevard County on Wednesday seeking to abolish laws that make it illegal for them to go topless in public places where men can.

its not te LAW that they are fighting here!
I lived in Indian Harbor Beach, Fl for 3 years and the girls and strip clubs
have never had problems with girls going topless; its the WOMAN's complaint!

Girls should act like -this-
Ladies should act like -this-
a Woman is too damm FAT to look like anything pleasent T_T
- however that fight over what is right and wrong is Drilled into females by
their Mothers - not Guys!
"Put your clothes on!"
"Young Ladies should ALWAYs wear Underwear"
"those boys just want you to bend over so they can see your underware"
- oh that's ok mom; I'm not wearing any" ^^ *slap!*

These are things that Mothers depress their little girl into believing "are correct."

If this were to go to trial, it would be these brauds against every Mother who ever raised a child - not the Government!!!!!

moron's!

The point that they can show ultraviolence on television and not breasts is a little silly. First off, they've been airing American Pie uncensored as well as The Godfather all summer. They allow breasts to show on tv all the time. Anyway, if my children were weak enough to be influenced by anything on TV, they deserve whatever trouble they get into.

That doesn't mean I'd want my daughter baring it all in public. That's something a naive bunch of teenage girls might do if they started having too much free time. If these women had normal lives, there shouldn't be enough time for them to raise a lawsuit like this.

Men and women are not the same; they are not equal. I need to know the judge's political party (they're almost never entirely indifferent) to make a prediction on the outcome. Of course, if they could make a ruling to remove the Ten Commandments from a court room in Alabama, this may not be so far-fetched.
