Any News of AWA Winners?

Post by TnAdct1 » Sun Sep 28, 2003 12:28 am

Learning my lesson from last year, I'm making sure that the title doesn't confuse anyone on the board.

Anyway, is there any word yet of who the winners were in the various AMV contests at AWA? I would have thought that someone would have posted the winners by now (of course, there's also the Iron Chef and DDR Project 3 that's going on after the announcement of the winners).

Here is a partial and unofficial report of Pro, from memory. I may misremember the category names and such so my sincere apologies to the other creators for any mistakes. It's been a very long (and wonderful) day. The new DDR was indescribably good. There was also a replay of the DDDR/Disney Rave since there had been technical issues with it the night before.

Vic Bond won Masters with a Haibane Renmei vid.

Best Video in Pro went to Studio Gaijin Anger Management / Perfect Blue
Best Original Concept went to Nightowl Playground Love / Kare Kano + original animation
each of the above videos also won a second category that I can't remember

Upbeat - Doki - Harder Better Faster Smaller / Chibi AMG
Comedy - Ian [AbsoluteDestiny] - I Wish I Was A Lesbian - FLCL + various
Romance - VegettoEX & MeriC - Let Me Save You - KOR
Various - Vlad - We Want You! (In the Navy)
Horror - Variations in D Minor - Vampire Hunter D
Action - Wonka - Life on Mars - Armitage
Parody - More Than Toast - Comedian Trailer Cowboy Bebop
Instrumental - More Than Toast - hmm
I think Red Wolf - I'm With You - Spirited Away won sentimental
Drama - me - Hildasong (Gollum's Song to Hols Prince of the Sun)

My video didn't play at first so my heart kind of stopped. But it was my first ever con award so I was happy to say the least.

Again, it's 5 in the morning, this is just from memory, and there are probably mistakes for which I apologize. Someone else will have to take a stab at Expo.

There is a lot to report on from AWA in general which I'll leave to others. Lots of fun extras at panels, The Road to Iron Chef etc

Everyone did excellent work, I'd like to congratulate everyone on all the kickass vids shown to me on Saterday. I'll also gladly host any vids if anyone needed it (unlimited bandwidth on an OC12), e-mail me.

I'm still amused that the 'Master' prize is a jacket from the tourney here in Augusta...

It's still just the preliminary results (i.e. no word on who won the Expo categories), however, I pleased with the results of the contest (I was hoping for some nod for I Wish I Was a Lesbian and We Want You).

Vic definately deserved his prize as well, though I'm curious to see the video by Nate that Vic claimed was (this is an exact quote by him) "so good that it takes my vid and fucks it over a bedpost until it bleeds."

And now I'm curious about Expo on the off-chance in hell that I won anything.

Now to wait my 2 week limit until I can download I.W.I.W.A.L. *sniff*
...the Buttlord GT video had my girlfriend and I rolling. Damn great.

I thought the "The System is Down" video was perhaps the greatest thing to be shown at AWA, ever, and I would gladly beg to watch it again. Please?

Same here. Though I'm not as curious about whether I won as I am about audience reaction (did anybody laugh like they always do in my "What God Has Sent" video when Cid dropped his cigarette even though it's NOT supposed to be funny?)

Anyone who watched Expo, what was the general reaction to anything from Tornado Productions (me)? People laugh, vry, yell, throw soda and hot dogs?

I'd like to know the Expo results as well, since I need to know how the Yu Yu Hakusho 2nd Chance video with Blink 182's Adam's Song was recieved.

I didn't make that video, nor did I send anything to the contests, but that video was made by someone I know and she'd like to know the results.

I could only stay for Saterday, so I only saw the awards show... and not even all the things that won awards were shown. I wish that my bank had not screwed me.

Would be that the tape they sent to everyone to vote on was available.
