we also use "Anime" for japanese animation (but also sometimes other stuff... for example, we have some french "Anime", and "Jayce" and "mask" - the series with transforming cars - are considered as Anime...)
Anime means more "watchable by an otaku" than japanese animation (but it's close in fact)

i haven't seen those 2 for a long time! i always like 'em when they were in their prime

I remember liking Mask when I was a kid. Long time ago! Didn't realise it was anime or not. I don't think kids care. I just called it a cartoon
