making banners...
I'm just curious how everyone makes their banners... + I've read about photoshop, and that program just blows my mind, and I looked through the how-to section and found nothing. PLEASE HELP!!! oh yeah.... I plan on doing AMV's of my own eventually, but I gotta get a better PC first. That and I wanna start with the small stuff (banners, music and anime suggestions/inspirations, etc.)
Any help is appreciated!! THANKS!!

I've found paint shop pro more friendly for beginning that photoshop, but photoshop has a lot more professional effects and possibilities. I've always thought of paint as a really cheap program, but you could probably get something simple/basic out of it.
If you're not too picky, I could throw an avator/banner together for you. I have a ton of manga/anime pictures on my computer to work with. You can either just use it or keep it until you learn a program enough to make some on your own. PM me if you want me to. Would need a basic idea of what you'd like. ^_^

I personally prefer The GIMP. It`s originally a Linux program, but there`s a version for Windows as well. s far as the making of banners and wallpapers goes, The GIMP does everything you need to do, and it`s free andisn`t so heavy that your machine can`t even run ICQ while editing pictures. It`s system is a little hard for us Windows users to get used to, but once you get used to using the right mouse button for opening every single menu, the rest is easy.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

GIMP is great but rather confusing at first. Photoshop is ideal but expensive, and probably more powerful than you need for most banner ideas.gepetto wrote:I personally prefer The GIMP. I wouldn't recomend paint, it's too basic and your banner probly won't turn out well unless it's a pretty simple concept. If you have a tricky idea your better off leaning GIMP than pulling your hair out trying to do it in paint.
Finally if you have ever bought a printer/scanner/digital camera/etc. it probably came with some low end image editing software. They vary in quality and ability but they are always extremly user freindly so if you don't want to take a lot of time that may be the way to go.
Just remember that the idea is more important than the software, if it is a highquality image that's half the battle. Check out A tip about banners for more advice.
