Sorry if this is in the wrong place.. I wasn't sure where to post it. ^^;
Anywho! I've had an unfinished video sitting on my computer for nearly 2 years ^^; I forgot about it & I want to continue it since it's about 20% done. Problem is during this recent summer someone released the same video! Not the editting itself of course but it uses the same song, anime, and concept >.< I know I did it first cause I had to add the song title to the database.. =/
I need some feedback. I want to finish it but then I'd most likely be accused of stealing this girl's idea since she finished before I could finish mine (there are only mine & her video with the same concept/anime/song).. & I don't want it to be redundant.. cause there are so many similar videos out there.. but my best friend was the one to help me come with the idea and I wanted to do a video for her.. Some tell me to continue others say don't bother but they never give me a reason to back up their claim, if you will. le sigh.
Did that make any sense? But yeah, I'd like to know some other peoples take on this so I could come to more a precise decision..
For those of you who are curious, the anime I'm using is Inuyasha set to "I Want Your Girlfriend To Be My Girlfriend Too" by Reel Big Fish.. The concept.. yup, you guessed it. Kouga trying to steal Kagome away from Inuyasha.
Continue? Yes or No?

/e points to all the LP and Evanescence songs with the same anime and same concept
if she yells about you stealing her idea....then she has more issues then can be dealt with on this board.
Maybe your vid will be better. Maybe it wont. All that matters is that YOU wanted to make it. Not if it has been done before. If thats what is holding you back....i refer to my initial statment.

With your talent? Of course!!!!!
Hey, I've seen a bunch of your videos and they're ALL really good. If an AMV creator with as much talent as you wants to post a seemingly copycat video (even though it isn't,) then I say go for it!
Besides, if that chick does complain, then just point her to this thread, where you specifically said "I've had an unfinished video sitting on my computer for nearly 2 years," and "I know I did it first cause I had to add the song title to the database." That should be all the explanation she needs. You AREN'T copying her; you're just following up on an idea that you've had started for a looooooooong time.
Anyway, you aren't doing anything wrong at all, so just carry on the way you have been and don't worry what some random sourpuss viewers might think (or complain about.)
Well, that's my two cents, so Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!

Meh?
Okay, for some reason the computer messed up my post a little. In the last sentence of the second paragraph, I typed "that you've had started for a long time," but it omitted a few letters. Whatever. Stupid technology. v_v
