and yes, anything that doesn't conform to our guidelines of what is good is bad.
Ok, lets try it this way then. What makes an AMV bad?

Avoid making bad AMVs
To avoid making a bad AMV:
1. Try to do something that hasn't already been done.
2. Don't let your entire video focus on one scene.
3. Use a good song.
4. Make sure the song fits with the footage.
5. Make sure the footage fits with the song.
6. Take into account that people have different tastes in anime series.
7. Take into account that people have different tastes in music.
8. Don't use the same series or song too many times.
9. Aviod using a large chunk of someone else's specially edited
video to make yours. (I've been guilty of that)
10. If your gonna use other AMVs to make your own, (like I do), use more than 2 and make sure you use very little or none of specially edited footage from the other videos.

I always put thought in my videos and they do have some sort of message in them. You think I'd make a video driven with a sole purpose of victory? Well that's not the case. When I finish it then I think about the ways to present it. In the process of actual making, my main thought isn't competition it's always to get the message/story/concept across.Beowulf wrote:"HEY DUDE IM THE F'ING BEST", which (while not as blunt and stupid sounding) is a tone I've picked up from a number of your posts.bote wrote:
Even though your tone is negative that is 100% true. My goal: to be the best. Never did I do this for fun, it was always to beat others and win competitions. For me AMV's are serious business. Period.
Hah hah you see the thing is I know I'm not. I can't really say which posts are those from which you got the idea, since for most of the time I don't rant about anything.
In my opinion a video driven by the above attitude will never be as good as someone who has something to say.

I posted that in a bitching topic about overlays awhile ago. Now I don't really give a shit about winning anything.Pyle wrote:Hey dude, it may not matter to you, but I dream about being in Koop and AD's position. LOL! I can't imagine going into video making with this mindset. I would burn myself out 2 hours into it.bote wrote: Even though your tone is negative that is 100% true. My goal: to be the best. When Pyle said "awhile ago", he meant a few months or more ago.bote wrote:Maybe you ought to reread what you said. "Win the VCA" -> "I don't really give a shit about winning anything." When he said "now", he meant now.
He used to care a whole lot, and now he doesn't anymore.
Makes perfect sense to me.
That may be true now, but a Super Search reveals that "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence is currently within only 30 videos of taking over the top spot.megaman917 wrote:Something I forgot to mention and it's very important:
FOR THE LOVE OF ANIME, PLEASE STOP USING LINKIN PARK'S "IN THE END"!!!! It's the most used song in AMVs. Granted, it's a hot song, I like it too, but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
