Define 'field'.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Creed was very skilled in their field. You just need to narrow their 'field' down enough to not get too many bands in with them. :)

Otohiko: Best definition for 'field' that I think applies here is "a particular kind of commercial enterprise." "He was the best in his field." So, like I said above, depends on the criteria for setting up these fields within the music business.

And to get back on track, y'know, I never replied to this topic the first time around because I couldn't decide what 5 bands were the 'top' in my mind at the moment. I'll go ahead and try, though.

1) Man or Astro-Man?
2) They Might Be Giants
3) "Weird Al" Yankovic
4) Angerfist
5) Hrm, #5...System of A Down, sure. Why not.

Hank Williams, Sr. deserves some mention though. Mebbe Eminem too. Gah, 5 is so limiting. I'll just go with 5 top listened to, and that's them up there.

So is Creed's field, 'Shitty can't play their instruments fake every song sounds the same christian but not band with reduntant music videos'?

Cuz if that's the narrow field you're talking about, I can totaly see how they were the best. I mean they didn't even really have much competition there.

Obviously if you take a look at the videos I've done. Creed is one of my favorite groups. Plus I've mentioned it here. Creed was a great group when they were together. When you watch there music videos they weren't overwhelmed with digital effects. They had more meaning behind there songs and not christian related. They used those types of references yes, but not only for religious reasons. One Last Breath was a song about disappear and anguish. Not knowing if he could carry on with his life, always as feeling he was right on the edge wanting to give up, but there is someone there helping him in a sense. "Holding on to all I think is safe". That feeling there makes him realize that its not worth killing himself. "Don't Stop Dancin'" another song on their weather album was telling people not matter how dark the situation is continue on don't give in to it. Have faith in yourself that you will surpass this and triumph over it. If you watch Outlaws Don't Stop you can see the story in there that Gene acting as Scott in the video was giving into everything that was affecting him but telling everyone else no don't let this happend to you. Continue on have faith that everything will turn out right in the end.

Creed got its bad rep because of Scott how he presented himself on stage drunk at the concert and then breaking up Creed because of his personality. This doesn't mean there music didn't have a clear meaning and wasn't good. Anyway this is also coming from a tone deaf creator as a few people have stated from the Fighting For Your Love amv.

A few of my favorites include:

Lemon Jelly
Machinae Supremacy
Korn
Rammstein
Laibach
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
The Who
and other assorted music. I typically listen to an assortment of stuff, but I can't stand to listen to country or opera.

Opera...

either way you view it fans can make thier own decisions on what to like and not to like tsunami says that creed sucks and their music is fake that is her own opinion. skilled can be taken to lightly when it comes to music and just selecting certain ones instead of looking at the big picture is at best just your feelings. but it is up to the listener to pick what it is they enjoy feel for or in creeds case sucks but thats just me. but to just choose i would say yellow card, likin park (old not new), system of the down, blue man group, and good charlotte.

No, Creed got their bad rep because people figured out that they had only ever written and recorded one album, then kept re-releasing it with different names in the tracklist. This is a great business strategy when your first one goes platinum, but when you get to #4 with no change it is just evidence that there is no creativity going on at all. I dug Creed's first album (partly because I was still in my teens and hadn't started listening to underground music yet), but the wheels kind of fell off when the first single off the second hit radio and it was like, wtf, this sounds exactly the same as the last one. You can't get away with that unless you're AC/DC or someone else who makes fun music. Creed's music, while it may be "meaningful" to some, is certainly not "fun" in the way that AC/DC is.

Let me also go on record as stating that that "Fighting For Your Love" video is hilarious, whether it was intended to be or not.

I can't believe I didn't post in this thread back before it got necroed; probably couldn't pick five bands. The following list is still probably incomplete:

1) Death
2) Agalloch
3) Primordial
4) Evergrey
5) Sigh

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.
CHOPWORK - abominations of maceration
skywide, armspread : forward, upward
Coelem - Tenebral Presence single now freely available

Damn you're dumb. That's me in my avatar.

Second, no respect at all for you band list. I'm not going to flame you though for your musical opinions. I do advise you read this entire thread though, it might enlighten you a bit.
