I'm aware of this. This is intentional.

As nobody actually did then I guess that's their problem.
Not that I want to get into the VCA bashing since by now it's pointless and I'm sure you're sick of it but....

Did the posts several creators did saying their videos were nominated in the wrong catagories and requesting people to not vote for them in those catagories count as telling you?

Not if we don't read them they don't. This is a shameless pimping forum, so I wasn't checking here for this sort of thing. Had there been a thread in site help or suggestions then that would have been different. You can't expect the contest admins to read every thread.

I don't see why you all bother. AD isn't going to change anything even if 100s of us posted at once. And were there some background checks of the voters? You know, like trying to see whether some of them are multiple accounts?

When you take into consideration public access points (like libraries) and public email services (like hotmail, yahoo mail, etc.) checking for dupe accounts becomes more or less impossible. If the person is intelligent.

Keep in mind AD isn't all powerfull. Phade has the final say in alot of things, and there are some things AD can't change.

Perhaps, but seeing how certain profiles look I can't help but think those are multiple accounts. Example:

User Name: Whatever
Member Since: Saturday, Februar 19, 2004, 9:20 AM
Name: Whatever
Location: N/A
Email: xxxxx@hotmail.com
Last Login: 2004-02-19 9:25:00 Forum Info: Profile Posts (0)
Current date: January 9th 2005
Journal: N/A
Opinions Given:3
Opinion Average: 10.00
Favourite videos: All 3 from the same creator

I've seen at least 10 accounts like this. And you're saying that trying to hunt down multiple accounts is unintelligent? Go figure.
Keep in mind AD isn't all powerfull. Phade has the final say in alot of things, and there are some things AD can't change.
I know that. Keep in mind AD said he had disqualified himself in order to check the VCA for irregularities.

The thing is, it's very difficult to automate. There are simply too many accounts to go through by hand, too.

OK 1) People are more likely to be stupid than malicious. 2) Who says I'm not going to do something.

See, the fact that various information was released *after* the final started puts me ina tricky situation. If this was before then I'd have removed various entries no question.

At present it appear that ScorpionUltd should not be in either the Rookie or First Video categories. Exactly what we do about this now that MANY votes have been cast is a problem and one I wanted to confer with Phade about before taking any action because if any removal happens then there are potentially over 200 votes that could have gone to *any* of the other finalists. Do we email the people who voted? Do we make a big deal of this so that people know to recast their vote and hence publically name and shame ScorpionsUltd for something that was probably not premeditated?

These are the questions that I will put to phade, we will make a decision and we will see.

As for doing background checks on the voters..... dude.... we have over a thousand people voting this year... we already make sure that only people who signed up in 2004 and earlier can vote so the chances of people having an account JUST to vote in the VCAs is pretty slim and when the votes are in the numbers that we are talking about for the finals it's just a few raindrops in the ocean.

Not to add fuel to the "fire" since I agree with your actions given the predicament (since voting has already started), but I believe bote was referring to opinion abuse, which seems more rampant lately.

I won't name names (or videos), but I too have seen the same thing he's talking about. In fact, there's quite a few new videos in the top 10% that I've downloaded (in hopes that they were good) and quite frankly, they're not.

Then again, given how the baysian system works, videos need to gradually go up (i.e. harder) so it would be pretty difficult to get say 20+ people to abuse the system. I will admit that much.

At the same time (again), like bote, I have seen quite a few suspicious accounts giving ops to the same creator and their averages being really high.

Given I won't say I know for sure, but it seems suspicious. Anyway, I could be wrong and bote wasn't referring to this at all *shrug*. It's not even VCA related afterall.
