Now how could I not mention Imagine? <3

I will also recommend Nailz's Battle of the Mind: How Can I Be?, Rubyeye's Shellshock, Fluxmeister's Lost Dreams, and Wonka's A Vampire Story. All of those have either minimal or no effects (aside from crossfades and transparencies).
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Maboroshi's Sleep now....funny, at the time, this video was considered the pinnacle of FX AMVs...funny how overlays and white flashes aren't even considered effects anymore... :?

I was pulling up that list from memory and now that I've watched it again, maybe Sleep Now doesn't belong on this list. The thing is, if someone had never seen the anime, could he or she tell that it wasn't just cuts and crossfades? I can see the effects in Sleep Now, but then I've watched Lain and made two Lain AMVs. So, the changes would be obvious to me where someone else might not notice. Rhythm Animation is a better example of "invisible" effects.

As for white flashes, I don't consider those to be "effects" since you can just fade in and out of a white scene, the white clip being just another clip among many. And you can do overlays (PIP) even with WMM2 as long as you have the right plugin.

I was going to mention Bachelorette and Dreams Come True, too, but many people have seen those already. Film, on the other hand, doesn't seem to get as much attention as it deserves.

(Film has a 9.001 effects score, BTW. A known bug.)

I may check it out with MexicanJunior and the HypeO boys. If my job, school, and movie making doesn't swamp me again :D

My latest video, Mad World is pretty simple and could easily have been done on wmm.
