It has one of those twisted plots that interest me. I love the silent guy that protects the girl sort of stories. Sesshomaru is proff of that. It also has guns and darkness.

Umm...the humanity of it, so to speak. The way that the main characters are neither evil nor good; they have traits of both, and the fact that the story comes from Brandon's perspective tilts you in his favor, but Harry ain't all bad, either.
Hundreds of other things as well, I'm sure, but I won't list them. I do kind of wish Brandon would string together more than two words at a time (besides the narration)...but hey, that's him. It all works.
